so as you see, NO, a girl simply having feelings for another girl isn't yuri [...]

Yet, the same article you used as source considers PMMM yuri, so they clearly don't consider a confession to be essential.

[...] but if you checked other manga websites, you'd see that even the most obvious yuri works here, they are not tagged as yuri there(Futari Monolouge, Yuzumori-san, Swap Swap..etc), though you might see the shoujo ai tag.

The usage of "shoujo ai" for works that aren't "yuri enough" for whomever is tagging, though, needs to be terminated with extreme prejudice.

Gotta love Hinata's smug face when Hana and Noah call her onee-san cute.

Fate Kaleid has a tag, which is why I asked in the first place. Personally, I think it should be ditched in favor of only Fate/X, yes.

Shouldn't this be tagged Fate Kaleid Liner Prisma Ilya instead of Fate/X? Actually, do we really need both tags?

Amusing that fansubbers never get this pissy when someone else picks up "their" project.

Subbing (probably) not taking hours and hours of cleaning, redrawing and careful typesetting might have something to do with it.

This was cute and all, but what really stuck to me was how absolutely sexy sensei looks. I want to have her babies.

Did they -write- M/F, or was it one of those applications that expects you to circle one?

The answer is right in your quote...

The original was not kansai dialect. The dialect used by the author is one that's difficult for even native speakers to decipher. The TL decided to use an english dialect that would convey the same. I don't think what she used is even hard to understand, but judging from the amount of people who seem to complain about that in the comments looks like it was a perfect choice. How is that so difficult to understand?

I'd like to say a good portion of this thread seemed to be a discussion on different styles of translation for something not easily done.

What's the other TL style aside from "preserving the feelings and intentions of the original author"?

It is. I honestly don't understand why people complain your TL is difficult to understand.

The current is that much closer? I believe it needs an accent to portray the difference in speaking

She speaks with a hakata dialect [...] [that] even a native speaker [...] will have a hard time understanding

[...] she has a very heavy accent that contrasts greatly against the proper and perfect businesswoman image she has. Scots was the obvious and most fitting choice, in my opinion, specifically because it brings with it a similar stereotype, and is hard to understand for many who are unfamiliar with it, just like a Hakata accent, along with being easy to convey in text [...]

This is "how much closer" the accent is in the TL's opinion.

[...] the fact that the current translations need a translation of themselves for the general reader; [...]

even a native speaker [...] will have a hard time understanding

That is, a jp person reading the original manga. They don't get to have a "TL" either. And Roppo's TL is hardly difficult to follow. If you think it is, please never touch Irvine Welsh's books.

Once the singularity is here and we shed our fleshy vessels in favor of perfect robot bodies these silly notions won't be relevant no more anyway, might as well discard them now.

But does your perfect robot body have female or male bits or both?

That depends, which day of the week are we talking about?

Freya posted:

Mostly from the translators from danbooru, I've always accepted an american southern dialect for the equivalence of kansai ben or similar; esp from Moonspeaker.

The issue is, it is nothing like kansai ben.

The current is that much closer? I believe it needs an accent to portray the difference in speaking but it seems almost ironic that some spots need translated to understand the translation.

Easy to understand, yet still conveys the idea that there is a difference in speaking

You might want to read Roppo's notes here , or if you want details here. Or maybe this.

There's enormous pressure on boys to act one way and girls another. So it's not hard to see why someone would want to opt out of that game entirely, even if I personally think the "gender spectrum" is about as useful as astrology.

Once the singularity is here and we shed our fleshy vessels in favor of perfect robot bodies these silly notions won't be relevant no more anyway, might as well discard them now.

Ever considered that maybe, just maybe, the person that's translating the series and has read much further than most of the people here might know things that aren't obvious or weren't revealed yet and that shed some light on the character's sexuality?

Whaaaat, outrageous! That's libel! I'm well versed in the languages of pain, suffering and general misery. I also understand a bit of english.

Edit: Why do everyone assume Nanami speaks in a Kansai accent, when I've explicitly mentioned in every chapter that she doesn't? Lmao

Wait, are you trying to tell us that there're other jp accents aside from Kansai? :^)

I just googled his name and he is so pretty. Sadly I probably watched one of his films.

Are you sad because you watched his films, because you don't remember watching his films or because you only watched one?

This isn't Yaoi... As far as the text itself made clear, this is the tale of a Crossdressing Pansexual Man and how he met his Girlfriend.

That sounds like some straight up [Het] to me...

Although we haven't heard from the gf themselves how they identify, MC's pretty much says they're a "girlyboy" like himself, so it's fairly safe to assume this is Yaoi and not Het.

Fully expected Tragedy. I'm glad to just have been misled.

... How could someone interpret this as involving Mokou outliving Keine when it literally starts with Mokou panicking over the possibility that Keine had found a certain box?

Probably because she doesn't appear for most of the story, except in flashbacks. In fact, aside from a very brief scene, most of the story is Mokou chosing to moonview alone with her mementos of Keine while fondly remembering their moments together. I think it's fairly understandable how people can be misled by the mood.
