If I recall my church days correctly, Lucifer was God's favorite(a dynamic we see with the naked space cuddling); however, rather than failing, Homucifer succeeded in her rebellion against Godoka. I can't help but feel Homura effectively trapped herself in a ninth circle of her own making in the process, though: even if Madoka forgives her, there may be no way out for her.

On a less philosophical note, for some reason the first thing that came to mind when Homura pondered about the "advanced version of skipping class" was burning the school down. Truancy never popped into my head until I read the next panel.

From what I've heard, even Korra's end wasn't the best received. My understanding is that most people saw it as coming out of nowhere, though.

I don't think Haruka perceives them as human; if you notice, any time she speaks to them, it can easily be parsed as they're meowing at her and she doesn't actually hold a conversation. She also refers to them as cats at the end, and Eli even brings up that "No matter what I say, Haruka won't get it..."

She also has a can of catfood on page four. That's generally not something you offer people when you try to bribe them with food.

I didn't notice the hearts, but now that you've called my attention to them, it really does read completely different. It's amazing the big difference small details can make.

Though this does raise the uncomfortable question of where the king ends up in all this. If he'd been offed, it'd be one thing, but by all accounts he's alive and well. Maybe he'll turn out to have a cavalier attitude?

I liked the thing until I got kinda dubious about the -us and double-checked whether the apple thing was true - it's malum for apple, malus would be a fruit/apple tree.

Beyond "tree" being perfect for a (step) mother, "malus" also means "wicked" - which is exactly what she was trying to be. Far, far too fitting.

Then she started eying the mirror, and I thought: more like omnivore.

It looks more like Snow whats to break the mirror into a million pieces and bury each one in a separate hole to me.

I don't know what it is, but something about that angle on the first panel of page 8 just really kicks the whole thing into gear.

They're adorable as sin, but happy portrayals really only serve to underline how badly Homura gets chewed up.

Sometimes I hate my inclination to be Debbie Downer, but there it is.

The only tragedy here is the writing: the plot points don't even have time to breath, let alone develop properly. I'm not even sure what the hell happened at the end, other than the author going full 4edgy6you.

Given that it's been confirmed Rin wants Kou badly, I'm fairly certain we'll have at least one in the end.

It might just be aggravated by the art style, but most of Personal Color's works have a melancholic atmosphere.

This might just be because we haven't seen the rest of the story arc, but I'd have to say chapter two isn't nearly as good as the one-shot. It runs the same joke into the ground before getting into the hackneyed misunderstanding trope. The next chapter will probably be Vega pleading just to plead her case.

Read it again. Just even having the 'contest' was a concession. They made crystal clear there wasn't going to be any changing the outcome before it began.

The anime suffered from being a 1:1 adaptation; had it been longer and able to take some liberties, it probably would have worked out better. Frankly(but not disparagingly), this is an incredibly vapid manga, comparable to the results of taking a vanilla eromanga and ripping out the sex(and sure enough, this seems to be emily's only non-H work).

Any defending Kou would've been done before the meeting. She'd hardly be allowed to dispute the issue during the meeting; the decision's been made and it's her job to deliver it.
