On that note, despite the sturdy-looking safe, I'm really worried that Arthur and Maoa will be a bit too "distracted" to look after the sacred sword properly.
To be fair, Shiho leaving the band was the catalyst for the entire story with Yori performing in her place and Himari happening to watch her at the start, so the resolution of her feud with the SS Girls is meant to be one of the most important aspects of the plot. Maybe the author considers it a bigger deal than it's coming across as to some readers.
Considering how even the side characters in both bands are more or less paired up leaving Shiho and Aki as the odd ones out, I wouldn't get my hopes up on Shiho's motivation being anything more complex than that.
I'm still game for the current turn of events unless a rift actually starts forming between Himari and Yori over this. They should both be able to realize Himari messed up even if she was benevolent, and ride out the manager arrangement without misunderstandings. Shiho herself finally started sounding a tiny bit more reasonable and basically gave Himari an out regardless of the outcome.
This just came out in my country a few days ago and I bought it, didn't know it was currently being scanlated. I enjoyed the idea of the narration starting from the end and going further and further back in time to shed new light on the relationship, it was easy to guess what happened due to all the hints in the future but it was still intriguing. I kinda feel like Kiyoko was a negative influence on Mitsu overall, but Mitsu seems to still have had a mostly fulfilling life while Kiyoko was the one filled with regrets by the end. Though sad, it was a good story.
^ While I'm not a fan of how she's been handling the drama between Kase and Yamada since it often feels like it just goes around in circles with their relationship barely having matured over the past several years (both in-story and out), I don't think there's anything wrong with featuring a few more side characters at this point. If well integrated into the story, they can always contribute to the development of the relationship between the main characters rather than just having their own separate things going on and taking focus away from it. Of course, it's a careful balancing act.
Getting more interesting there, I hope Fukami and Aikawa stay at least this relevant since the side cast in the series has always felt rather weak to me as far back as the high school days.
Although the healthiness of the relationships, particularly early on and regarding the treatment and “generous” evaluation of actual consent are notably problematic from a realistic evaluation, I was largely able to look past it due to both standard suspension of disbelief, coupled with the overwhelming familiarity with the matter due to its prevalence in so many manga.
It's vampires, they're not going to ask nicely. Though of course the joke in this series is that Ichika takes as much advantage of it from her side.
Reread the whole thing... damn now I sure feel like I left the entire story behind while reading on a monthly basis... what I don't understand now however is why they wanted to seal the sword somewhere else with Maoa's help? Wasn't the original shrine's barrier good enough? Or was it because any normal human could have been asked to take it out?
Yes, once the location had been discovered by the Ghika, they would've had little trouble sending someone to retrieve it and even if Aria's group stayed to prevent it, Ichika would've been targeted as it actually happened.
I'm not sure that's the case. I remember Shadi/Yanyan's flashback from a while ago where she had been stabbed and Khara found her, I always assumed Khara had to turn her into a crow to somehow save her, but now it's looking like they parted at some point when Shadi was still human and she turned into a crow later in order to follow her while keeping her identity and "wrong" feelings secret. It would be strange if Khara lost just the memories about Shadi being Yanyan considering she seems to remember everything from both before and after with no issues.
