I thought Yayaka was kinda of getting in the way too much before, but this episode was great. I hope they get into Papika's story soon, though.

Now with Mimi being revelead to be Papika former partner, they might actually do a story where she has to let her go and accept her feelings for Cocona, like I imagined they would.

I think what was going on there was the stone was crystallized mana, letting Zophie ignore the dead spots, rather than shutting down Izetta. Still bullshit, though

Izetta commented something like "this area should be rich with magic" indicating that her powers were being suppressed by an external force. Then again, is Izetta supposed to know exactly where the ley lines are?

You know...
It will be a bullshit if the germanians find about the ley lines location and never actually uses it.

I like her too ;____; When I first saw her in the op, I thought that her hair was interesting, like she was frog-themed or something. I feel like each character has a theme actually, or at least a quirk. Koyori's a pup, Agari has her arrow, Hokuto's a bun, idk about Hanabi but she reminds me of Zapdos, Munemune-senpai and boobs maybe lmao. Idk about Kiruka. Sasorida is a scorpion, the pink girl is a pendulum, the chuunibyou girl is a wall, and Hamu is a hamster lmao. We don't know much about Zakuro yet.
I like that behind Kururi's cold facade, she's super passionate about Zakuro c: They're really cute omg
I'm sad it isn't as popular as I'd like it to be (do you mean the manga?)
Idk how far in the story is, manga-wise, but I'd love to read it ;_____; I wanna know all about their growth and exploits as athletes ;____; The anime's obviously not getting very far, we might never find out more, past the ending of the 12-3 eps

I meant the anime. I just wanted they to keep doing it, just like Saki, but oh well...
I don't think they're going past the training arc, since that's all the opening shows.

I smile every time I see Wtv's avatar, christ I love that anime so much, it's so much fun, I'm happy just thinking about it
It's about girls playing ping pong goddamnit lmao, but it turned out to be super fun, zero regrets, I'm really glad I watched it

Yeah...I'm kinda sad that it's not selling well, though. I wanted they to keep the story until the national at least.
It would be cool if at least someone translate the manga, but well...

I loved Kururi's design since the opening. Then her episode came and she's best than I expected.

You know, even though I see the flaws in the manga, Satou is the kind of character that I love and is pretty rare, even more in yuri works.
I hope she gets her twisted happy end.

You, my friend, have a great taste in music! ೕ(•̀ᴗ•́)

The first song I fell in love with was "Coin operated boy“ back during her Dresden Dolls days around 2005 or 2006 maybe:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4gPZPKJc0s
Then I followed her up to her "Amanda Palmer performs the popular hits of Radiohead on her magical Ukulele“ EP ^^
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-w3ulxYkqU&list=PL2A0F3F6183029B94&index=2
Still love all of that older stuff and regularly come back to it every once in a while.
Everything that followed after is still good but it doesn't light my fire anymore for the most part.

Yeah, it's the Ukulele part I'm not a fan of. But that's cool. It's nice she's doing something she likes.
Anyway, I wouldn't say I have a great taste in music because I don't even go after music that's not the weeb things I see in anime usually. I don't even remember how I found Amanda Palmer.
In fact, it's funny that I don't follow music that much but I like some niche things, like Amanda Palmer and Emillie Autumn.

Watched Izetta.
I fucking knew it. Feelsbad.
However, I really like Sophie's design, she looks really cool, the clothes fit her. I also totally forgot that the jealous wife sold her out, I think her fury is pretty justified, just not targeting the right people. I guess I get why Izetta's grandmother didn't want her to be like the White Witch, cus it would make sense, since in the end, someone she had protected betrayed her. It's pretty sad, that she betrayed her own code to do what she felt was right, and was stabbed in the back by someone from "her own side". I wonder if her character can be redeemed, "freed" somehow.

She just needs to end up with Bianca to save her story of the legendary witch
Anyway... most Yoshino female villain are redeemed in some way, so it's pretty likely.

(I love Amanda Palmer! Does anyone else here actually listen to her stuff...? I wonder...)

I do, although no much lately.
I like her style in the Dresden Dolls days, Who Killed Amanda Palmer and Theater is Evil. It seems like she's doing some alternative things lately that I'm not a fan of.

Latest Flip Flappers literally made me laugh out loud. Anyone who watches, you'll probably know exactly when.

Yayaka's sudden but inevitable betrayal is coming along nicely too.

Post-credit bit is worrying from a yuri perspective though.

About the Mimi thing:
And this is kind of a meta spoiler, like, it's on the credits, but most people probably didn't realize it: Mimi is credited as the same seiyuu as the girl Cocona meets on the boat. So she can't be her. Otherwise they would have the same seiyuu or hide it.

I don't think Papika is Mimi's daughter either. Mimi looks young when she "disappear" and Papika was the same she is now. And she calls "Mimi", when it would make sense to call "mom". In fact, I think it's more likely that Mimi was someone that both Papika and Salt loved. Maybe she was Cocona's mother, or maybe she ressurrected as Cocona somehow. Maybe the end will be Papika accepting her love for Cocona and trying to stop Salt of sacrificing Cocona to revive Mimi.

If feminists manage to kill harem, I'll thank them. If they kill them in jrpgs, they're my heroines.
What would be oversexualized yuri kiss? Like VD? We could do better without that, too.

It's probably a random rant, though.

About the flowers.. the end of episode 7 ends with Papika making a crow of flowers to Cocona. The meaning of those flowers in the language of flowers is "Think of me".
Maybe there's more there, but other than that, I can only think about the lillies.

What were those flowers? The name

White Clovers

Well, there's the other more simple explanation to fingernail clippers...

That was my first thought tbh, but? I don't know, they made it seem like the reference was obviously this other thing, which I didn't really get either so maybe there as something I missed?

Also, apparently in an event the director said that the use of flowers symbolically is intentional. That was obvious, but still...

Lmfao, are we talking about the fucking lilies
(I don't remember/didn't take note of other kinds of flowers that possibly made appearances)

I think the most obvious one looks more likely. The director clearly knows about yuri, so he would know about it. Something that probably ANN reviewer didn't think about. It looks kinda sexual, but hey, the episode was pretty sexual.

Nah, that was an example of the sort of stuff you'd definitely spoiler no matter what. I didn't mean it had actually happened.

...or did I?

I hope that post becomes a premonition of the future.

I think the reactions are expected. I mean, he even came from other thread just to say that.
One thing is to say: "I don't like this manga and this author anymore". No one cares, but okay.

But when you call a beloved artist in a community "perverted rape hentai artisit", then you're asking for it.

I'm not a fan of sexual horror, or in fact horror in general. Plus, I think rape is poorly used in most places it appears in fiction, as Easy Dark Backstory #1 for female characters. However, to say that this taints all Morinaga's work is naive and ridiculous at best, and buys into a weird purity obsession that seems to only apply to female authors since he gave men a pass due to being naturally more lewd.

I like horror, that's why it annoys me that almost all horros stories nowadays are torture porn.
Well, it doesn't matter here anyway. It's just poor storytelling, but it shouldn't taint any author. Even more a amateur author at the time, as she was.
And hell, even if it was something worse, it's an old work, something she wouldn't even do nowadays probably.
It's not her only "rapey" story either. That one with nail polish and the one with bunny girls are pretty rapey, too. The one with bunny girls is even used as a joke. But they're just dumb porn stories that probably every mangaka did once.

Obsession with purity is stupid, anyway. Even more on old works of a mangaka that was a complete amateur at the time.

Is horror supposed to have rape too though? I like horror but rape is more in the gore category for me. It can be interesting without having to be cringey af. Nonetheless it's still horror I guess, but I'd prefer if they stayed in the hentai category.
Not saying anything about the author, just my thoughts on the genre.

I think it falls on the torture porn genre.
I'm not a fan of it. But well, that's why Morinaga said her horror stories are terrible.
Although its pretty common for japanese horror to put rape on them.

Not really. An okay mangaka in my book. Knew he drawn hentai too but then again men tends to have more lewd thoughts than women.

Still not even comparable to how disguisted i feel about Milk. Smh.

It's really weird that you react like: "but he's a man, so it's okay, but a woman can't do that!".
Anyway, even Octave's author probably did hentai in her doujinshi days, but we don't know the name she used them.

And she's pretty much just writes het anyway, Octave is her only yuri story.

Curious thing about Milk is that once she said she wanted to write horror stories, but she was pretty bad at it.

omg Ep 8 of Izetta
I'm so scared and stressed. There aren't as many "action" scenes as one would first expect for it's still stressing me out, information is so valuable, so much is depending of these side characters omg
I'm surprised the uh guy who volunteered to do the spy mission had such a feelsy/tragic death scene, that they gave him that amount of importance. With the music and all, I felt shivers, when he fell. Even if he's an antagonist, I guess what they were trying to show us was that he was an alright guy, doing his best, just on a different side :/

I'm also surprised there was a kiss scene at all, even if it was with someone else, another girl too, altho the purpose wasn't for it to be a "kiss" per se. That was so fake tho lmao, the guy's excuse. "She's a big fan lol dw about it". I'm surprised Fine and Izetta weren't shown thinking about it again, it was legit fucking suspicious. But fuck I'm scared there are so many plot points and foreshadowing bits in this episode, it's building towards so much shit they're so fucked omg

Oh and about the White Witch's tale. Before I found out the "true end" to it, a thought I had was that, whether she ended up with the prince or not, essentially, it's a love story isn't it? She fought for love, after all, not unlike Izetta currently is. It's tragic, but ignoring the ending, the gist of her purpose was still rather romantic. This better not happen to Fine and Izetta tho, I'm here for love and hope, not death and despair :/

As much as the lil gayish bits made me happy, the plot is really building up, I feel tense.

I think the most important thing yuri related is...
Fine does know about the love story in their legend (no the bad end one), so when she says Izetta is "my white witch"...

But yeah, all the "you like happy end because life is full of tragedy" is worrying. Hope Fine and Izetta will get their happy ending at the end.

Gunnerkrigg Court is the best webcomic I ever read (although I'm pretty behind it now).
It does have a female protagonist, but she's not a lesbian. But there's a yuri side-couple, although it takes some time to get to them. There's not focus on het, though.
And it's really, really fun.

Girly is pretty fun and a lot of couples. Although some het couples too (and one yaoi). It's finished, too.

Cucumber Quest does have a male protagonist, but it's really cute and there's one yuri couple (also, his sister gets as much focus as him). And the relationship with the protagonist sister and one of the girl villains who has a crush on her is pretty cute.

BanG Dream is Yunico's series composition, so it might be fun and gay.

Given Flip Flappers and Locodol, I think "might" is a bit of an understatement here (lol)

Well, I'm sure she would make it full yuri if she could, but there's always other factors to consider.
Although, they might have called her to write it because of her interests too.

My Japanese is limited so don't quote me on this. But the player identity could be a big spoiler.

Honestly it would be more interesting to see how the anime approach the player identity, instead of removing it completely. Because according to my limited understand, it's one of the good plot twist

Regardless, on the yuri front, the player tends to be an object of admiration to the girls rather than affection. As some will confess to like you, but want you to belong to everyone else, or want to keep their confession secret from other girls. So it should not affect the shipping

I hope if they do it, they make it a girl like Ange Vierge.
Or at least ambiguos like KanColle.

Anyway, my anticipation meter for January 2017 right now:

School Girls Strikers > Kobayashi Maid Dragon > Demi-chan

Maybe something else I missed?

BanG Dream is Yunico's series composition, so it might be fun and gay.
Gabriel Dropout looks fun.
And of course, Little Witch Academia.

I'm just loving fall season too much to think about it being over, though.
