I'm a straight male and I also read yuri and some trap (BL doesn't really get my attention but there's something really exciting about trap shrugs).

In my case, I started reading yuri thanks to touhou and then started branching out nowadays I read yuri more for the romance and fluffy stuff (some erotic every now and then is pretty nice though) while I can't really care for normal romance manga since it felt kind of 'soulless'. I don't know how to really explain it.

This filled with so many fuzzing feelings, one of the best stories I've read. Some of the 'intermissions' confused me though, is this a one shot or there's more about this 'verse?

I've only read a few Dowman Sayman stories and every single one are either creepy or really depressing. ;_;

Okay, that was just awesome but why don't they include Meiling to this kinds of things.

There's a pretty great doujin out there where Meiling's part of a youkai-hunting 'team' and while pursuing a specially dangerous one she comes across the Scarlets who were orphaned by the beast. Meiling kind of adopts them but at the end she's badly wounded taking down the beast and loses her memories, turning into the klutzy gatekeeper we know. Sadly, I can't remember the name :(

The thing I like the most from this series is the fact that Remi uses a baby chair XD

I think it doesn't matter what someone likes or who is the person in question but I do find interesting the preconceptions around this genres. As a mexican male, Yuri was seen between my male friends as 'quick and easy' porn with the added bonus of not having naked guys to look at, female friends thought it was gross (amusingly, some of them were big Yaoi fans) but they were fine with it on small doses. Older people looked it as an abomination and sort of a gateway to homosexuality (?), very few are aware of the genre being as diverse and valuable as any romance story, the only difference is that the characters are women (I assume the same could be said about yaoi but I've never read any)

School Police is kind of dumb and Secret Recipe goes at a GLACIAL pace though.

Am I the only one who gets surprised when someone on the forums casually mentions that they're a dude? Sometimes I forget that straight people are a thing.

Nah, it's cool man. I don't mind waiting, after all the whole thing is free and a longer time between chapters will allow me to fully assimilate the wonder this series is.

But again, you can easily do that through simply not mentioning anyone else. There are tonnes of Touhou stories that focus on only two characters and everyone else is just conveniently off-stage somewhere, unmentioned. So why bring up such a major thing only to leave it hanging?

Oh, and Meiling makes it clear she has no idea what happened to the mistresses, but suspects Sakuya might know. She oddly seems uninterested in finding out over the next several decades that she's together with Sakuya. Weird.

It was kind of a neccesary evil to convey the loneliness Meiling's facing after Sakuya's death. Where once she had a family, a place to belong and a beloved, now she has outlived them all but oddly enough, the end is hopeful since Meiling is working to move forward. With that in mind, I didn't read Meiling as being uninterested on the Scarlets' fate more like accepting that they're gone and focusing on what it really has (Sakuya).

This story is something of a rewrite of The Flower that Follows the Sun, which has more explanations and more drama

Can I just take a moment here to reflect on just how freakin' badass Meiiling is in this? The whole intro with the horses and her devotion to Flan and deflecting Flan's point-blanc shot (which I assume went on to destroy the Aki sisters' apartment) and that whole scene where she and Sakuya bust through the barrier and wow I love it when Meiling is like this and okay I'll stop fangirling now.

But see, that's what gets me. Why even bring it up? It's pretty significant that Remi went to Flan's room and neither were seen again, and mentioning that in-story makes the reader curious as to what happened. If it's not mentioned, the reader can just assume they're off stage somewhere and not worry about it.

In any other story the vampires vanishing would be as much an incident as them appearing in the first place, don't you think? Certainly not something that would be greeted with "welp, these things happen" by those loyal to them.

Is possible that Meiling and Sakuya know perfectly what happened to them, and well, the reader shouldn't worry about it since the focus is Meiling and Sakuya's relationship.

For a sec there I was expecting for Mini Yuuka to vanish into thin air, so glad it wasn't the case :D

Why I always expect the worse when Touhou kids show on Doujinshis?

Because it could be a beautiful train wreck. Picture the most beautiful steam engine you have ever seen chugging through some of the most beautiful countryside in the world traveling on an ornate track. But this track is rough and cause the train to bounce everywhere, tip and lean over here and there, struggle to move forward at times, and even go into reverse here and there. But yet, we cannot stop watching this train and hope beyond hope that it makes catches onto smoother rails eventually and has a safe and beautiful trip to its destination.

That or we're all masochists and or total suckers.

Or you know, we actually like the story :P
