Oh that bitch has something truly heinous planned

Yup. Let's see how the Little Empress will outsmart her once again. Though at this point, I am honestly more worried about Ming's well-being than about the Empress'.

Could Io grow a spine already?

Telling a person with a complex childhood trauma to grow a spine is like telling a depressed person to just stop being sad. The sentiment is meant to be nice, but mental health just doesn't work this way.

Yeah, his opinions were derived 75% from being an overprotective father, and 25% being a haughty nobleman who cares about how the opinions of other haughty aristocrats can affect his family's prestige. But he got over both of those things here.

Wasn't he also a bona fide villain in the original game? That would explain how he got the look down pat

Man, this story is a hot mess. Post-apocalyptic power abuse where everyone is a horrible person... but they are all hot, somehow, so it's fine, I guess?

Side note, they'll probably clear this up later, but I'm confused. So, Wu Qing, the maid, is a robot made in the likeness of Xiangsi's former lover, who was also named Wu Qing? But why did they show Wu Qing getting sold to the black market?

My guess is that the original Wu Qing was sold on the black market to Xiangsi, who treated her like dirt at first before falling for her. Then, however, she did something that resulted in Wu Qing's family dying, prompting Wu Qing to turn against her, after which she also perished (killed by security?). Later, Xiangsi has a robot commissioned to look just like Wu Qing and gives it (her?) her lover's old name because she cannot let go and wants a second chance.

I gathered that the original Wu Qing was just a regular friend of Xiangsi and the "mistress" thing was just them goofing off; Xiangsi reminisces about their friendship and fallout after the robot version introduces herself.

The robot version seems to be a Trojan horse manufactured by the ladies with the red hair and pink hair to get close access to Xiangsi. The sale of the robot through the black market, along with the memories she seems to carry, are a charade meant to obscure her true origins from both herself and Xiangsi. The fact that her creators still named her Wu Qing may make for pretty bad opsec, but maybe the name is meant to hurt and insult Xiangsi just like the face.

My takeaway from "it was you who killed my parents" is that the original Wu Qing's parents died due to the incident involving the plague vaccine that Xiangsi worked on. It would not make sense for public opinion turn against Xiangsi for causing the death of Wu Qing and her parents if they had been of low status, which again makes it unlikely that the original Wu Qing was sold to the Yao family.

Your version appears to be closer to the canon than mine, I stand corrected. :-) What confused me was that the robot maid thought about her family and sister, but it must have been just memories implanted by pink+red hairs for verisimilitude. Also, when Xiangsi talks about "testing [her] so many times", she appears to be talking to Pink through the robot maid, so it might not even be Pink's first attempt.

Also, I have noticed on re-reading that the original Wu Qing had worn a choker/collar, so her calling Xiangsi "mistress" may have more meaning than just friend goofing around.

Maybe the real curse is just how madly folks fall in love with the women of Evris' bloodline.

OK, the Princess having a gay panic meltdown over the General is cute AF, but can we appreciate for a bit how adorable the pair of birds on the very first panel are?

I love this line, it's actually a really smart in-universe method for a historical euro-fantasy character to declare romantic courtship in the context of a queer relationship

What line? I don't see the image.

Page 35: "The love I have for you is the sort of love that is shared in a tryst or at the altar."

Okay Leonardia is a prick or whatever but who else whooped when the reverse engagement annulment happened?

I honestly did not expect it this late in the story, but it was a pleasant surprise twist on the trope. :3

I was, however, at little bit disappointed about how quickly Serina's hand situation was resolved, especially since the first few pages have been very good at treating it like a real career-ending traumatic injury that it definitely was. I admit that her powers have been foreshadowed and, if you squint hard enough, they can be stretch to cover limb regeneration, but I am personally much more interested in the interactions that happened between Serina and Amelia during those 10 days than in what came after. Then again, I am a sucker for hurt/comfort fics, so maybe it's me who's being weird.

Is it bad that I really like Diana?

No, it's not. She is a good person, if easily manipulated by those of not-so-good intentions.

The thing I love about this comic is how it manages to be both a romcom and a bona fide court intrigue story. Like, in this chapter, we got more General x Princess hijinx, but at the same time, the royal couple's plan to rope Ming into their court party by pairing her up with Tantai Lan has been further advanced. Also, Tantai Lan has declared her allegiance to the Emperor's party in front of the Dowager, while also using the royal couple's authority to put herself between Ming and the Dowager to protect the former from the latter's immediate retaliation.

When did this go from ordinary high school drama to Sunstone?

When Lin Luxi discovers The Book it's gonna be an interesting scene lol.

From the sections we've seen so far the lessons Tong Tong is learning do seem legit, but at the same time I have a feeling that this is still gonna come back to communication and directly talking about what both of them want out of their relationship.

I think Luxi is gonna figure out that Tongtong is not going off pure intuition very soon. I just hope that Tongtong's book will introduce the step "Ask your sub what they think and really listen to them" before it advises something that pushes Luxi's boundaries too far and causes a big misunderstanding between the two.

me 4 days ago:

even if she's stumbling into this, i think she's got incredibly good intuition. Moreover, she is also actively reflective of what she's doing and what's happening. she's going to study up

I didn't think she'd be taking me this literally

Just wanted to post that. :D Y'know, for someone who is "not good at studying", Tongtong has really learned well in such a short time...

Holy damn, this was awesome. So cute and funny ! I gotta admit I was kinda doubtful seeing the anthology title, since volume 1 had issues, but this is probably one of the best comedy shorts I've read here.

Volume 2's a lot better than volume 1; you can find more chapters on MangaDex and they're all great imo.

I agree, the second volume is much more to my liking so far than the first.

who was the one on here saying that "the panels-to-the-first-censored-kiss metric in manhua is getting shorter and shorter."? Because I think you're onto something lmao people love their early kisses

That would be me, and I stand by my assertion. :-) When there is a censored kiss on the cover/key art/whatever webcomics use to advertise themselves these days, we'll know that we've reached peak manhua.
