While the art and the plot are solid. I can't help but feel this story kind of 'soulless', like it doesn't go anywhere and the characters themselves seem like shadows of their former selves at the end. Is really weird.

You're right, he does have range but he goes at the extremes, young girls are near skeletical while mature ones are really big and plump. This picture is rare in the sense that they have normal proportions for teenage girls (his Reimu is a little big breasted for her frame for example)
