I'm imagining a thing where this new guy drinks and says "Ack! Everyone was saying your drinks taste good! This tastes like asshole!" "Well, I tailor the drinks to each individual . . ."

"If ONLY I were a BOY" says Midori, "Because obviously the masses of lesbian couples surrounding me couldn't possibly give me the idea that two girls together could be a possible thing!"

Those were some amazingly . . . PRACTICAL wedding vows.

Yeah, think I'll come back at the end chapter to see if something worthwhile happens in it. People say it's the journey, not the destination, but this is a crap journey so I'll just tune in at the destination to see if Ami has something unpleasant happen to her.

Ehhhhh I'm finding it hard to care. The whole big sister thing leaves me cold--I don't care if she's evil, or kind of evil but turns out to have her own weird moral code, or actually misunderstood and is doing everything to ultimately help her sis, or whatever. I'm just not finding her existence in the manga being something I want to have to spend my mental energy on.

Let me simply state for the record that while I won’t mind whenever the story gets around to progressing the plot, as long as we’re getting scenes like little cutie Elsa wandering around in her little slippers, I’m fine with it.

You have a point.

While I agree that intellectually, it makes perfect sense for Kamiya to give up at that point . . . nobody ever does that. Not high schoolers, anyway. So it still feels kind of weird to me.

On re-reading it, I find myself sad to realize just how short it was. It seemed longer while it was coming out and we were eagerly waiting for chapters, but really the author was cut off in what was perhaps still the beginning of that lovely slow burn. Damn it.

Well, we'll always have that gorgeous moment with the baseball bat.

Aaaaahhhhhh! Isn't anybody going to tell me what the hell poggers means!? LOL. I really do want to know what poggers means though.

Well, I used to be involved in an obscure Canadian blog about politics and such called "Peace, Order and Good Government, Eh?" or "Pogge" for short, and people who regularly frequented it could arguably have been called "poggers". I guess that might not be what was on the mangaka's or scanlators' minds though.

Are they not gonna go to uni first? In which case it'll probably be dorms-

Probably is a bit strong. I don't think the proportion of university students in dorms reaches 50%.

I am glad that for once, a person being not okay with things and not being good at them is not treated like a character flaw to be overcome, but simply a part of who they are.

Same. Really refreshing. I liked the students backing her up, too. All in all, this felt really positive for me.

This makes zero sense. Usually, once you discount a bit of stuff around age, this mangaka dishes some pretty dashed good characterization. But this is just--I mean, "Hi, I'm clearly malevolent, just look at the villain smile, I messed you up before, and my intentions towards the person you care about are questionable at best. Swear fealty to me! If you really care about that person you'll do it!" "Oh, sure, that sounds good."

Really, WTF?!

Ah, lovely.

Side note: It's kind of cute what the Japanese imagine is "strawberry shortcake". Comes from their obsession with presentation, I expect. So, proper strawberry shortcake is messy, and put together on the spot either by someone who's serving it up or by the person who's gonna eat it. It involves three things:
1. A bunch of whipped cream, like a big bowlful
(Ideally, don't use spraycan whipped cream; it tastes fine, but it's too light; you want whipped cream with some heft)
2. Sliced, lightly sugared strawberries with plenty of juice oozing around--again, you got a big bowl of this
3. Traditionally, these things like large, just slightly sweet baking powder biscuits, although I suppose in a pinch you can use those weird yellowish mini-cake things they sell in stores sometimes. But the biscuits are really easy to make.

You take a biscuit and half it, so you've got two halves with the centre face up. You ladle on a bunch of strawberries and a stack of whipped cream. You devour. If there are still biscuits left, you do it again. I myself have never gotten into the whipped-cream-on-top versus strawberries-on-top factional conflicts.
That's real strawberry shortcake, not some kind of bakery cake with orderly layers and a few strawberries stuck on top.

It's odd . . . I can't really point to why I like this. It's the kind of thing that tends to make me shrug. But somehow . . . I dunno. The gags are decent, and there's this feeling of affection about the whole thing. I definitely enjoy it more than I would expect.

Biggest highlight of the chapter for me was Takamine's expression when she told her mother she had fun. Especially for one who has said multiple times that she feels her life is empty, showing this sincere and, for lack of a better word, content expression, to me means the world and is incredibly satisfying.

I agree with your whole comment, but this most of all--I was looking at her expression, and then at mom going "Wha?" and thinking like mom, I too have never seen her look like that and aww, she gets to be happy for a change!

A school forbids you from going to the arcade on your own free time?

The unnecessarily draconian rules some private Japanese schools have never fail to bring a sigh and an eye roll from me.

Somehow that comment goes amazingly well with your avatar's expression.

I am starting to wonder if this stuff might not have something to do with other characters taking revenge on MC's behalf for whatever happened to the MC when she was a kid. Or at least, trying to do something about a wider phenomenon of which what happened to the MC was a part.

The school looks more like a high school than a university, but if it's a university and the student didn't falsify her age then I don't see why this meeting is so shocking.

I don't think it being shocking is the issue. The issue is, it means someone at her school now knows she's a lesbian.
