I think the hair decorations are different between reality and "Beniko and Sora" (Empty vs Filled, Scrunchie vs String?). Rereading it that way, it looks like the real Saku never left her notes for Kasumi to see. There are some tricky transitions in there!

This should be on a notes page, for those of us who are too dense to figure it out for ourselves. Also, having re-read the story with this information to hand, I spotted that Kasumi has a mole by her right eye, while Sora doesn't (though I don't think knowing that actually makes any difference).

I know people tend to get attached to the fan-translated titles that they originally got used to but it's becoming awkward seeing this series still listed as "I Favor the Villainess" when even the Japanese covers say, in English, "I'm in Love with the Villainess."

You're falling into the trap of assuming that the English text on manga covers is (a) a translation of the Japanese title, and (b) accurate. Having said that, I'd go with "The Villainess Is My Favourite" myself.

Our heroines seem to have wandered into a different genre altogether in this arc... though of course there are reminders every so often of where they really are.

By the way, I'm surprised that Bikini Girls With Guns isn't a subtrope. No, not of Cosmic Horror...

For one thing, on the next page Ruri says "Saki-chan... She just doesn't understand... but I called her "dirty"..." When in the text messages it says "Yikes! You're dirty, Ruriko!!" (Which doesn't make sense...) The other question I have about that section is: WHO IS SAKI-CHAN? The top of the screen says Kyouko, which suggests it's a chat screen on Ruri's phone with Kyouko, yet she's not calling her Kyouko... If her name is Kyouko Saki, that might explain it, but she hasn't referred to her as Saki prior to that and she doesn't after that. And the girl Kyouko is dating calls her Kyou-chan, so it doesn't really make Saki a strong contender for part of her name... Oh well... probably just a translation glitch...

I assume Saki is Ruriko's twin-tailed classmate, though, like you, I have absolutely no idea why it says "Kyouko" at the top. As for the "I called her dirty," it could be that the original text omits the pronouns, which is perfectly normal in Japanese as long as the listener knows who you're talking about, and the translator filled them in the wrong way round.

No, it's a terrible title.

Actually, they have a point. I would translate わたしが恋人になれるわけないじゃん、ムリムリ！（※ムリじゃなかった!?） as "Surely there's no way I can become your [ or her ] lover, it's impossible! (*It wasn't impossible!?)." You could probably improve the wording, but it's definitely become, not have.

It's probably a little late to suggest corrections, but I think "Mito Arushurain" should actually be "mit Arschlein." It's German for "with a cute arse," or something along those lines.

Also, if we read "Shinon Berukuru" as "Chignon Belle Cul," then her surname(s), if we ignore the mismatch of grammatical genders (it should be "beau"), would also mean "nice arse."

One arse reference could have been a coincidence, but two? I think not! Though, oddly enough, I can't see any puns in the other characters' names. Maybe I just don't know enough languages...

In my humble opinion, it's transparently obvious that the author has recently gotten herself a pet cat -- and is adamantly decided to turn every little detail of her interactions with her cute kitty into a yuri fantasy manga story.

By that logic, we'd have to assume she also got herself a hamster at around the same time. Which would be a pretty risky combination, if you ask me.

However, I did a little searching on Neji's Twitter to see if I could confirm your hypothesis, and found several photos of Mick the cat... but sadly he's not hers. (We can probably assume that she's writing from experience, though.) He's no "spring chitten", either, ahaha....
