What a great illustration of societal sexism passed down from one generation to the next, in just a few quick pages. It feels like this mangaka really gets it on a genuine level and it's a pretty rare thing IMO. Thank god for her granddaughter, there's some hope yet in this world. You go granny, take all the dang classes you want !
I was thinking the exact same thing. The idea of the "dismissive laugh" is such an elegant way of describing a lot of complex issues.
who was the one on here saying that "the panels-to-the-first-censored-kiss metric in manhua is getting shorter and shorter."? Because I think you're onto something lmao people love their early kisses
getting revenge on your rival who has cast you out and forced poison on you by kissing her to transfer the poison into her body too has to be one of the most yuri actions ive ever seen
laughing at these replies because i was just as "wtf". like, you can speak?! i remember after mine i couldn't move my lips for hours and kept coughing up blood. these CN longstrip lesbians really are built different
Lmao i think chinese are just built different in general. I was practically back to normal around 3 hours after my wisdom teeth removal.
Apparently we all need to go to china for our wisdom teeth removals
There's a certain power and verisimilitude that's hard to come by on display here. Like, an aspect of the human experience regarding kink that's hard to express in art. Normally, the art that's dealing heavily in kink is about that and centers on that, it's what the story is about. Kink will be happening or be set up from pretty much the beginning, and so even if you write kink with an eye toward realism rather than fantasy, it'll end up being about the moment of kink, or how people think about it, etc.
Thinking about it more, Tong Tong and Luxi's dynamic reminds me a bit of a much more down to earth version of the couple from Program Me. Mostly the dynamic of the sub who knows what they want + a person who learns how to dom for their sake.
Peak. I am so excited to see where this is going, because on one hand it's clearly not a slice-of-life type story, but on the other I can't see much conflict happening between the three witches we got to see. And so far there doesn't seem to be a reason for the whole gang, including yet unrevealed characters from the ch. 1 cover, to be up against the mc.
My guess (and hope?) is that it might turn out to be similar to "Alcohol and ogre girls," with this sequence serving as an introduction to the broader narrative of witches and whatever else supernatural trying to coexist in modern society and all the exploration of related topics.
Also women kissing and maybe even holding hands???
I do hope if it is like alcohol and ogre girls that theres more physicality lol. It's kinda crazy that they had a drunk kiss in chapter 2 of alcohol and ogre girls and then dropped that stuff entirely in favor of subtexty subploty stuff about them feeling jealous of each other
I mean ultimately I don't think that these two women are on opposite sides from Sadako. It's just that Sadako just came down from the mountains after several hundred years and doesnt know what the hell is going on lol
I like this one the most out of the short one shots from Amazaki Suika so far. Swooning for a girl who loves to ramble about her passions is a rite of passage I think
Rye bread is so good. I've been stocking up on proper german rye breads whenever I can because they're hard to find in the usa. It's crazy how nutritious a single slice is compared to white bread.
I'm wondering how this "rival" character is going to tie into the main plot where Tong Tong learns about bdsm to please her ultra-sub girlfriend better
I have a feeling I know what an upcoming "twist" will be, and if I'm correct it makes these scenes all the better.
This is an incredibly honest scene from Jing Xiu. She acknowledges the positive change that Ji Youyan has attempted to do, but still says that this alone isn't enough to fix everything between them.
And I'm right there with you, I've read free soul and can't think of many others right now. But I would desperately love to see more black women in yuri manga generally
Absolutely
now that I think about it how could I have forgotten about the 3 stories featuring the Nessa x Sonia ship from a few years ago as well as a handful of images scattered through here, many of which were made by western artists under the....dark skin tag
good point, nessa yuri has been absolutely peak, what little that we get. I love her character design.
