I think this is another case where you're a lot more bitter than I am. I'm just saying that the Yaoi scene is usually far bigger than the Yuri scene, that's all lol

And all I did was expand on the topic with facts and expressed some feelings about it. What's your point?

If it's still not clear why "yaoi bigger than yuri lol" was not helpful but potentially misleading, I'll specify the numbers. In 2020, the BL market was estimated to be about four times the size of the yuri market. Even if we conservatively assume that the BL manga market grew as fast in the last 3-4 years as the total global manga market did (probably no more than 200%, if the graphs google showed me are worth anything), while the yuri manga market stagnated, the ratio would not be more than 10. Not twenty-two, like the two markets are represented in CMOA's "award" lineup.

This only matters if we assume the most cynical selection process for this voting lineup, where only gross market size matters and artistic quality or diversity do not. So 1 yuri title out of 100 (20 of which is the softcore BL porn category) is like cynicism multiplied.

If I'm reading this right, Asako gave up on finding the hairpin because she had been frustrated with her sister and the hairpin has not proved to be useful as a good luck charm in catching up to her. But the lost hairpin was an opportunity for Nagi to show that she cares, so maybe it worked after all?

Voting link:
https://www.cmoa.jp/comic_prize/boy/?appeal2025=258661

So (after voting) I looked through every other category to see if there was any other yuri comics I could support, and couldn't find a single one. Meanwhile there's like a bajillion BL comics, even outside of the explicit category of BL. I know this is just one site/publisher, but is this really representative of the JP manga market as a whole? : /

Edit: Oh, and this keeps being such a cute and comforting low-stakes read.. 1000 more episodes please thank you.

From what I know Yaoi is generally a lot bigger than Yuri

The BL market is still not infinity times as big as the yuri market. That ratio can't be more than an order of magnitude in the all-ages section, so there should have been at least one or two more yuri (or at least non-het and female-centric) titles in the lineup. But regardless of the relative sizes of the markets, 1 (one) yuri title (and one horror title with a female protagonist) against 58 all-ages het and/or male-led titles (incl. at least 2 BL titles in the "for men" tab!), plus 20 adult het and 20 adult BL titles, is something I find more insulting than not including any yuri works in the lineup at all.

The categories reflect the sections of the CMOA store, but that is not an excuse for this (in fact maybe the rigid and outdated store sections are part of the issue). It's not just yuri that gets completely shat on in this lineup, but basically all stories that aren't either extremely het/misogynistic slop or BL. Of course it's basically just an ad campaign (calling it an award is a bad joke) so it shouldn't be too surprising that artistic quality is not a consideration.

It's ok guys there's always divorce!

I was thinking the same thing lol. Like if she's regretting it already it can't be a very sustainable marriage. Which is why I wouldn't call this a 'bad end'.

So, I have decided that I'm going to try and translate the novel's first volume and was wondering if anyone knows what would be the best way to share it, like any websites?

That is really kind of you to offer!

I have seen groups posting chapters as blog posts on Wordpress, e.g. Amawashi. Another option is to upload document files (e.g. docx, epub, html) to Google Drive or Mega.nz, and host the links somewhere (e.g. Wordpress, Carrd), which is how the most popular translation project of JWQS (Chinese yuri webnovel) is shared. I have also seen some novels posted here on DynastyScans in the form of image sets, and then the translator would post links to document files in the forum thread, e.g. Sneikkimies' version of the Adachi and Shimamura light novels.

I think since TCR is a published light novel that one would normally pay to read (i.e. it's not a free-to-read web novel) it might be better to not use a blogging site for anything other than posting links to files uploaded somewhere else. But this is just my observation, so maybe you could ask around some of the groups about best practices. Some people in the Dynasty Discord server might also be able to help connect you to a translator who has worked on novels before.

Prom does have some untapped potential as a yuri trope. It's weird that I've never thought of it.

Maybe I should clarify some things. I'm not a moe or a teenager "hater". I was talking about mature in the most literal sense: "like an adult". I was griping about having a hard time finding pairs of female characters that (1) aren't magical girls, idols, or generally innocent angels, (2) are main characters and (3) have material for shipping. This is not a hard standard, there are magical girl and band girl ships that I love. The yuri in Psycho Pass is great too (even if we barely see those ladies). I'm just thirsty for more spice and variety. I'm bitter because female characters that look, sound, and behave like those in Chainsaw Man, JJK, AoT, whatever, are so rare in yuri-friendly anime. I know why that is, but the heart wants what it wants.

I mentioned girls-only action anime because conflict, high stakes, and violence - that's like the hot sauce of yuri. A girls-only action anime can facilitate yuri and shipping very well even with character designs on the moe end of the spectrum, but it's still an improvement when the characters have more adult-like proportions.

This series is so far very light on on-screen violence, but it does have some stakes. The two main characters are both women, with a really fun dynamic, and -I'm not sure how else to put it- they look hot in an adult way. The main reason why them being 30 matters is the high school reunion with husband killing plot; otherwise I would still like their designs even if they were college students. I was just trying to explain why I have a soft spot for this kind of pairing, and it was hard to do without referencing other stuff.

Their getaway is unfortunately rushed, but Hana reached Lily's heart and they ran away together, so I'm happy with this ending. I didn't expect the cross-dressing role changing hands, but it suits them both!

The 'girls with guns' genre went out of fashion in the 2010s, and girls-only/yuri action series adopted moeblob character designs. So I'm glad that some of the old school energy might be coming back to this microgenre, with LycoReco and Maid War leading the charge in anime.

This series is not really an action vehicle, but for me at least it pushes many of the same buttons as 'girls with guns', since it's a roadtrip adventure about two lady outlaws. It's a rare treat that both women are grown adults, with really cool character designs.

Outside of the Yuri genre F/F shipping material can be scarce it manga/andme, especially if you want adult/mature characters or non-blobby character designs. Most of these require digging through material that is otherwise full of boring male characters, and is really hetero (the median shoujosei) or misogynistic (the typical shonen action). To contrast, the genres that make F/F shipping the easiest and least stressful, almost exclusively traffic in innocent moeblobs who are high school aged (2.5D idol/band franchises) or younger (magical girl). (Since Symphogear ended that sort of action-fanservice show is dead too.)

Well, that's also part of why I find Stupid Woman 26:00 refreshing. A very shippable pair of female characters, who are not only not innocent moeblobs but instead a pair of fugitive husband-slayers over 30... And I don't have to tolerate an obnoxious male protagonist/romantic lead, or risk getting addicted to a gacha game? Even if it's just manga and not anime, it almost sounds too good to be true.

Huh that was it?!?! Btw I really hate seeing pre straight girls tries to go out or have sex with girls only cuz they couldnt find a good man or they were harmed by men or both. I detest the idea of woman being a back up option, wanna see more appreciation of women beauty in yuri manga.

I get where you're coming from, but I didn't see any straight girls in this story. A woman trying to date men doesn't by itself make her straight.

The flash forward teaser is wild because I wonder what will lead these two to go horizontal in less than a week. It would not be a puzzle if at least one of them was intensely forward or had experience, but they don't have that kind of chemistry. They both seem like inexperienced high school students and not particularly desperate, so this fast track progress to their first time is oddly (though not unrealistically) quick, and feels like something out of a one-shot or a series about legal adults. Maybe they will keep renewing a 7-day contract multiple times, so the flash forward actually takes place more than a week in the future? Or maybe the flash forward is a misdirection and the girls will abort mission at the last minute?

I do like their dynamic though, and the setup feels distinct. The short time limit is oddly unnerving, even though I know they will most likely become a real couple. It's hard to recall high school yuri series that start with this kind of casual dating of mere classmates, without a blunt transactional excuse (money, blackmail). That new Usui Shio high school yuri is similar but still pretty different because the character motivations are more clear there and there is no time limit.

Misa understands that she is doing something immoral in both of those. She sees the boundaries she is overstepping, but is too horny to stop herself, especially since Io is basically a stranger to her at that point. And judging by her internal monologue and actions in later chapters, this is not a usual occurrence for her. On the other hand, while we don't get Hase's internal monologue so far, judging from what we know about her relationship with Io, it seems that a lack of personal boundaries is one of its key features.

Yeah, Misa sees that boundary, and elects to ignore it. And it's not that she is too horny to stop: by the time she is touching herself, she is getting off on doing the wrong thing. The narration spells it out: "I'm on top of a sleeping girl, powerless to resist me. It's turning me on."

But she is the beautiful cool girl who embodies freedom, and Hase is the Hag who stands for everything Io wants to get away from. Anything Misa does or has done is justified through Io's perspective or because it's just hot ("I enjoyed it"), which is why any case to defend her moral superiority over Hase feels redundant.

the main difference between Misa and Hase being that the former has a very clear idea of what personal boundaries are

I think some readers may need to a refresher on what happened in chapter 2? I know Misa is hot, but let's not get carried away
