Honestly, I'm fine with this flashback. People need to realize that Prez and Vice Prez are still very much villains. This isn't supposed to justify them. It's supposed to explain how they came by this warped mentality. The Prez having the same ability and instead using it to create "accidents" that kill people is an excellent ideological foil to Satsuki and if he didn't have a grounding for WHY he did this his character would be pointless. This is basic villain stuff, guys. I know you want the story to just be happy gays all the time but this isn't that kind of manga.

Speaking of happy gays, though, I'm glad Akira is back.

I love the one coercing you into selling your body in order to finance your life coming with the brilliant suggestion of, instead of using that money to actually finance your life, spend it all on reckless, pointless purchases so that she'll soon be broke again and having to continue selling her body... and then even selling pantyshots of her online. It's genius, really. A brilliant business strategy

On page 9, Kaoruko saying she's worried about "Haruka and the others" is pointed out as a tell that she's in love with Haruka. Then, on page 21, Utena chides Imitatio for getting "Sayo-san and the others" involved. Thinking emoji

In fairness, the context for that is slightly different because she's talking about the other magical girl team being targeted. She would expect her villain team to get targeted. But yes, that does mean Sayo is her favorite from Tres Magia. But this isn't cucking Leopolt or anything. Besides, we've already established OT3 is endgame. Provided they don't try to make the harem even bigger, that is, with new characters.

Maybe I should rephrase to say I don't see anyone doing it justice in the modern scene. You gotta remember Valkyrie Drive was seven years ago now. Takagi has since left Maverlous, which has lead to the near destruction of the Senran Kagura brand sadly, and Hiraku Kaneko's last project was Kandagawa Jet Girls (which was another joint project with Takagi before he left) which was much less lewd and sadly much less gay than Valkyrie Drive. I'm still salty how the first episode pretended the premise was a strip jetski racing anime only to back off from it on the next episode. I haven't heard any news about him since, which is a shame as his credits for lewd anime are among the best.

Every time I wonder whether this series might be turned into an anime, another chapter comes out and snaps me out of it.

Any anime of this series would be so toned down as to lose all it's bite and fun.

I think there is a good point made about managing the amount of time you spend together as a couple versus on your own, but calling someone a cheater for their hobby is pretty fucking stupid, and also obviously toxic.

That exchange did give me this very useful image though.

Like where the focus of the plot is about everyone trying to get with the MC of the harem and the narrative kinda disregards everyone else's character aside from their feelings for MC. I think the harem genre also has this vibe of a power imbalance.

That's exactly the vibe I'm getting here, though. Everyone is obsessed with this one woman. They don't care about the others at all, it's all about what Tsuzuki wants. The entire focus is on everyone's feelings for Tsuzuki. The only difference here is our MC is one of the harem members rather than the center, so we have a different perspective on it. Franky, I think if everyone in this story were gender swapped, or even worse if everyone but the MC were gender swapped thus removing any queer relationships at all, everyone would be calling Tsuzuki the scum of the earth, even if the dialogue was all basically the same.

It's a refreshing portrayal of polyamory.

What's the line between polyamory and someone just making a harem for themselves? I get that not every instance of polyamory has every participant in love with every other participant, but the name by definition implies a lot of LOVE. Here I'm just seeing a bunch of people in love with one woman and they kind of barely tolerate each other, mostly to sate that ONE woman.

Personally I support this. I think the manga is very interesting and sweet and I think the other users here would like it as well.

Man the reactions to this chapter have been so kneejerk and childish.

No, they're the main villains. This is supposed to explain how they became the way they are. The vice president was in a pretty terrible situation and the president saved her from it. Then they got revenge. And decided to escalate from there. They are Satsuki's ideological opposite and this is supposed to explain to you how that happened.

"I'm not gonna read anymore until the Prez stops showing up!"

Well then prepare to skip the rest of the manga, because they are very obviously the main villains.

I find this one especially funny, because I'm willing to bet that's exactly the rationale the Prez and Vice Prez used when they started. That's how EVERY slippery slope starts. Satsuki's entire raison d'etre is that she WON'T kill, even through inaction, even if the person is vile. If she were to let that ideal go she'd be no better than the Prez, so there's absolutely no way that would be the way she'd let it end. That would mean he wins.

What makes you so sure they're spare panties?

I sort of got the impression she keeps a backup for her in case her exhibitionism goes too far and she needed an emergency pair.
