HAH! Idiot clam jammed herself.

Seriously, though, I loved this chapter. It feels a bit like starting back at square 1, but it will be nice to get a look at Satou’s true personality when she’s not hiding beneath her “Maron” guise.

Ah damn, should’ve seen this one coming. I had kinda hoped that Momo being the youngest child would mean that she would be able to more easily avoid the whole political marriage game. I will say that I didn’t expect the mother to have been in the same situation.

Now I’m just wondering how this will end? Will the loving couple elope to Hyena country? Will Momo abdicate her position and become a commoner to be together with Aki? Will Aki be revealed as a long lost/runaway Wolfa princess? The possibilities are endless.

I swear, the heavy drama on display in these past few chapters being immediately followed by the author being an absolute ray of positivity is weird and amazing at the same time.

Did she give her tickets? But why? Wants to take this girl to a concert? But the type of band Aya & Mitsuki like, odds are she won't like it at all.

Because her main issue is that Aya has been blowing off her friends to spend time with Koga. Giving her the tickets is Koga’s way of saying that she doesn’t want to come in between their friendship, and that they should hang out with Aya instead. It’s not about liking the band, it’s about who they see it with.

Well, Captain Eyeless didn’t become Captain Toothless like I wanted, but he did become Captain Speechless, which I guess is sufficient.

"Let's pay to have sex in a hotel when we could just take a cab/subway home and have sex there for free"

Is this like a cultural thing?

Look, sometimes there’s just something you really want to try out, logical alternative or no. It’s like going out to a restaurant when you can make the same thing at home. Why do it? Well, sometimes you just really want to go to the restaurant.

Hot damn. I’ve heard of roommates from hell before, but somehow thinking that you can decide whether or not your roommate moves, or that they have to tell you about their plans first, is something else.

Imagine being such a vile, selfish piece of shit you think you get to decide where someone else LIVES, and then also imagine being such a spineless wimp you allow this to happen and have the gall to ask your partner OVER TEXT if it's alright to postpone settling on an apartment in one of the biggest cities in the world for a full month just to appease this person.

I mean, if we’re pointing fingers here, don’t forget the nosy-ass dorm-mates who, upon hearing the challenge, immediately burst into the room and essentially made the decision for Kase. Not to mention the fact that, despite knowing that she was actively searching for an apartment, they decided that the race had to be held in a month, even though it’s something that could be done almost immediately.

So, what are the odds that Natsuko is already nearby and Captain Eyeless is about 10 seconds away from becoming Captain Toothless?

Oh hey! I though this had already ended. Sweet!

300,000,000 yen is about $3 million here. While I can make that last for the rest of my life, that's if I watch my money, and don't spend it all like a drunken sailor (no offence to drunken sailors). She spent it like it like those lottery winner horror stories you read about on the internet.

I really dislike the main character in this manga.

What a weird thing to dislike a character for. Also, in fairness to her, there was a secret rich girl who was encouraging her to spend that money liberally.

Well that was… melodramatic. Not awful, just melodramatic.

So much complaining in the comments again kekw. Not like any of you can do better.

Can’t draw for shit, but purely in terms of writing, I can and I have.

At first I didn't really understand why Deana dropped the line in the first chapter that "people lost family when the snow fell", but then I realized the snow concealed the mines...

Oh, good catch. I'd taken it as some sort of poison snow.

I figured it had to do with winter in general. Food and warmth are going to be hard to come by during the winter in a country that is still recovering from war. Wouldn’t most land mines be buried and concealed from the get-go, anyways?

I was almost expecting her to die.

Same here. After the twist in part 1, I spent the entirety of the conclusion mentally preparing myself to see a panel of one of them cradling an adult skull. I was so relieved at the end.

I don’t know why, but Jun is really setting of my “danger alarm” for some reason. Like, I keep getting the weird feeling that she’s going to try and “register” Nadeshiko to herself in order to eliminate her competition, and that’s going to start a whole thing. I don’t know why that’s the direction my brain keeps going in, but it is.

I hope she actually gets a gun

I’m hoping it’s going to be one of those alcohol gun and she’s going to go full support by liquoring up Hinata from a distance.

Aww.. It wouldn't have been morally questionable to do it wearing her uniform..right?

Eh. As far as I see it, so long as both are consenting adults, the morality of the underlying scenario doesn’t really matter.

I...uh...don't exactly trust this manga to do this topic justice? I honestly can't decide if it'll be more annoying for this to be a fake-out or a genuine attempt at drama that feels a little unearned.

Yeah, I may be proven wrong but this feels kinda....unsalvageable? either it's a very poor taste fake-out or a tone shift that's very much a blindside. and even if things work out, it makes it kinda difficult to root for an endgame where the main pair end up together because it went from a harmless series that you don't think about too much to a pretty....bad vibes dynamic? hopefully I'm wrong because I liked this series up to this point.

Yeah, that came on a bit too fast. I think I get where the author was going with this. She wants to show that Satou is going through some stuff that Makino, being a generally inconsiderate scumbag, never noticed, thus giving us a reason to care about Satou as more than just an object of the scumbag’s affection. I’m thinking this went so fast because the author doesn’t want to stretch the drama out too long, so she confined most of it to this chapter and the end of the last one. The problem is, the crescendo she had planned was too high for the amount of build up she dedicated to it. It probably would have worked better if we had just seen the scarring later, instead of the actual knife.

I still have hope for this series, though. Maybe I’m being too optimistic, but I’m hoping that this is going to be used to bring the couple closer. Discussing Satou’s issues while forcing Makino to act a bit less scummy (or, at least, to care about more than just her own “needs”) and confront her true feelings. Only time will tell, though.

The assumption that your teen years are the best, more shining and radiant part of your life—and that as soon as you reach legal majority you become a decaying thing that can only crawl in the rotting morass of adulthood all the way to your death—is very much a common Japanese idea... but it isn't at all a Western idea; more like the opposite, in fact. I'm surprised nobody felt offended by this strip and reacted with anger.

I'm also going to chime in on the side of people who are like...No, man. This isn't a Japanese idea, this is part of the human condition. It's universal across all cultures. There is a reason why, in the 80s, there was a huge surge of media about the 60s, and in the 00s, the 80s were big, and in the 20s, now the 00s are remembered fondly. In another 10 years they'll be waxing nostalgic about the 10s.

People making media about their youth to appeal to other people who want to remember THEIR youth is a huge part of culture.

10 years? I’m already missing the ‘10s. ‘Twas a simpler time, yonder years before the Plague.

Also, yeah, you’re right on that one. The people who tend to hat their teen years are the 20-something’s who just got out of them. The further you get from there, the more you start to look back at those years fondly. Heck, I’m only 26, and I’m already kinda missing my teen years. They weren’t even that good, either, but it doesn’t stop me from kinda missing them.

SunnyHyo posted:

No dudes are going to stand in front of a school in broad daylight and practically announce they want to rape underage girls. I get it, men bad, but come on lmao.

Yeah it was almost funny Lo/ I was like come oooooooooooon, and usually they DO have staff or teachers at the doors.

Well, the whole manga feels like a drama play, there's this feeling of unnatural succession of events and a bit over dramatic body language too, and they keep things unnaturally vague (like, a girl tried to hurt her TWICE but they still don't know who it is) for later... But I don't dislike it, if I'm aware to watch it like a drama from the start.

It makes me think of a soap opera, what with the over-the-top personalities and all. I agree that it’s still a pretty decent read once you start suspending your disbelief.

At the pace this manga, and Kasumi in general, move, I bet we'll get to see her answer in five or six volumes.

I want to see Kasumi ask "so how do two girls have sex" in her bleary-ass low energy way

I imagine Kasumi would approach sex the same way this dog approaches food.

When you get down to it, Kasumi would be the ultimate bottom in the laziest way possible.

Kasumi develops a somnophilia fetish simply so she has an excuse to sleep through sex.

Has the author mentioned at all how long they expect the series to be? I could actually see it ending soonish with them being friends and not getting into a full romance.

I would personally find that an extremely unsatisfying ending.

It wouldn’t make much sense either, since that last panel seems to indicate Oosawa seems to have caught feels for the real Mitsuki.

The fact that she can't do anything to her sister as retaliation . . . .

Sure she can. It probably works both ways, so she’s just gotta bang the mistress at an inopportune time for her sister.

I’ll be real, the “What the fuck am I reading?” tag doesn’t feel fitting here. The symbolism of the mask felt pretty clear.

The story was adorable, all the same.

That is a serious injury, poor Naori.
I hope Hinata goes all ogre and bust some heads.
Also, I am glad to have this back. Thanks for the translation.

I think she might want to focus on getting Naori to the hospital first. That’s a pretty gnarly wound. Probably don’t want to let it bleed for too long.

You know what would be the most devious plot twist?

If Evie’s not under the effects of the potion at all, and she’s just doing this to fuck with Elsa to teach her a lesson for, supposedly, planning to use an obvious love potion on her.

I hope that isn’t what’s going on, but I would laugh my ass off regardless.
