I really have no idea what the end of this story is going to like. Double suicide seems possible, but then so does them staying in this codependent equilibrium that they've found.

Their relationship has gotten more wholesome at surface level, but I'm not sure if there's a way for it to be a genuinely healthy one without them splitting up for a good while.

Although, I don't really think the intent is to depict a healthy relationship at any point, so really it's a question of how gnarly the end is going to be.

Certainly there are some bad depictions out there. But I think this kid is just desperate for someone to talk to about gender stuff.

When I was growing up, the only representation available aside from mean, one-off jokes was The Rocky Horror Picture Show. And that movie isn't great representation, to put it lightly.

Having a working adult in a happy relationship as a role model probably would've gotten me out of the closet a lot earlier and saved me a lot of pain.

As for this, it remains to be seen how the character is handled from here. It'd be nice to have a trans character not suffering too much for once.
