She’s finally talked to a friend about her problems, and now is talking to Uta, so those are encouraging signs, but there’s a long way to go before she’s plausibly someone who would throw over her entire life to be in a romantic relationship with her sister-in-law.

Kaoru does me as a person who would take advantage of an escape at this point, though. Like, yes, she’s consistently smoothed over all potential conflict, but that can never last in an interior or exterior sense (I say as someone who behaves in much the same way).

I just hope that this doesn’t end up reading like her using her sister’s feelings as an excuse to upend Uta’s life. Though that could make for a decent (and upsetting) development in its own right, I guess.

The way Kazami talks about promises and the way she handles interactions with Uruuno (vs. the obvious crush) makes me think there’s a potential for some classic Childhood Friend stuff with the Uruuno from her world.

It may not be the case, but I’m under the impression that NozoNico is an incredibly popular ship.

That also ties into what Gale said, she could try to overly support Akira so much, only to hide her true feelings of guilt for falling in love with Akira because she's biologically a guy.

She ain’t any mode of guy; I’m pretty sure Hime’s fears are arising exactly because she’s worried that even though she’s supposed to know better her subconscious might be treating Akira unfairly.

I’d love more friends like Hime. People who will actually confront an asshole instead of only saying the right thing when they know everyone else in the room is going to nod along.

That “twist” felt so arbitrary that I just ended up not regarding it as part of the story.

Using a codified slur to insult people in a slightly different way from the slur’s “popular” usage still leaves you with fucking bigotry spilling out your mouth.

For stories like this about queer folks whose identity very few people who aren’t queer themself would have received learning about, I wonder how a mangaka decides how much teaching to do.

Like, are they viewing it as necessity because they’re aiming for a somewhat broad audience? Are publishers telling them the story doesn’t work without? Is it just legit an effort at edutainment?

Anyway, this is one of the better ~about gender~ manga I’ve read on Dynasty in terms of not immediately alienating me as a trans girl.

The name kanji are different but just pronounced the same. Towa is Toma's assistant and yes, they are a couple. A friend of mine confirmed this when she talked to both of them.
