IIRC it's yuri smut, and it's not banned, the empress (in her secret identity as the author) is withdrawing it. I'm not sure why, maybe because she put too much court politics in it?

She did, which is what Tantai Lan and the Emperor indirectly recommended withdrawing it to her. I think they both know that she is the author but keep it ambiguous to let her save face.

Elsa is down bad that the moment she heard "Evie = servant", her mind went to French maid outfits with low cut.

The plot thickens. About the lake, though, my first guess would rather be that there is something sunk at its bottom that generates corruption, but it does not seem to occur to them...

Alice is 100% in love with the princess. Calling it.

In the new chapter she very decidedly looked away while they were kissing...

That one panel as a whole was most precious.

Umeda is my favorite character so far. Being her is suffering, though.

Awawa, I like Alexandra already. This kind of cool, composed, and thoughtful attitude... Plus she's beautiful and powerful. At this rate she might actually become a favorite of mine over the three mains.

I am half-expecting her to turn out to be a complete dork in private. :3

Alexandra is channeling a lot of Lapis right now. The question is, is she already secretly down bad for Diana, or will that be her character arc?

Huh, it seems that way. I was certain that it was going to turn out to be her new captain (whom I really like by the way, for saying things like they are and not giving a shit), but the hairstyle is pretty unambiguous. Can't say anything about Alexandra at the moment, but if she is an agent of Lapis, her job may be to ensure that Diana wins the tournament, so Lapis can hand Natori off to her. Too bad that for all her cunning, Lapis does not seem to understand how feelings work at all.

Anyway, letting Elsa take the spot is obvious when you think about it. She's the common born orphan who needs the status most to match up with her wife in society's eyes.

Well, Evie and her family are pretty much lower than commoners in the high society's eyes, so that may be not as relevant as you suggest. I think it's more of the opposite reasoning, even if the effect is the same: if Yvonne used the magic exam to rise back into nobility, she would still carry the stigma of the Smollets' prior disgrace and demotion. If Elsa does so, she will begin with a clean slate and not face any additional judgment. Even if she then marries Evie, their position would be more secure than if it were the other way around.

Also, the Emperor hasn't technically apologized for the deception yet, has she?

Elyssie is drawn like one would draw a love interest (intensely pretty and sparkly), so I was a bit surprised when she turned out to be an antagonist, but I guess the options are still on the table.

Also, Grima's behavior towards Lilly doesn't really add up, specifically when it slashed through her bungee rope. Either it was accidental, which is a hell of a coincidence, or Grima is a world-class 5D chessmaster who has seen through Rae's trap, correctly read that Rae would prioritize saving Lilly, and made the best possible decision, all in the span of two seconds.

tl;dr Frost wins in my book.

I'm glad to see someone else was thinking the same. This was clearly Frost's win and Shion would already have her throat cut if this was an actual fight to the death. That being said, I do believe that it only appears this way due to the artist not considering the technicalities and the intended reading is a draw.

Maybe, but sometime has been writing action series for at least five years at this point, so I find it hard to believe they would have made such a mistake.

Goddamn, that panel was intense.

Technically, Frost has won the duel. We see on this page that while both she and Shion had their blades at each other's throats, Shion's edge was pointing away from Frost. From that position, she could have wounded her left shoulder, at best, while Frost's sword is double-edged, meaning that she was actually in a position to slice Shion's throat, if not to decapitate her outright, even with a shoulder injury. Shion does flip her blade the right way around on the next page, but a) if Frost wanted her dead, she would have died already and b) her grip is not really suited for up-and-to-the-left slashes from that position, so any such attack would be slowed and weakened by the awkward grip, giving Frost a chance to evade. tl;dr Frost wins in my book.

Also, good on Clarice for trusting her wife. I loved the moment when she corrected Violet on her current family name. :-)
