A bit too much of a sappy drama for me. The 3 main characters were cardboard cuts.

Agreed.

It did remind of this Time article from the 60s (or maybe 70s?) I read about a UCLA researcher who treated children with severe autism through a very simple regimen of classical conditioning which involved smacking the children if they acted out and giving them candy when they communicated. The article was very impressed with his success rate.

Edit: it was Life Magazine, and it was 1965.

90k yen for 3 bedrooms is less than my 405 sq ft. studio by almost half. Guess that solidfies this manga as fiction.

You live in Japan?

Do we know where they are? Tokyo? Somewhere else?

Well, Occam's razor would dictate that they're in Japan, and in the absence of any clear indications otherwise, it's safe to assume that they're somewhere in the Tokyo region (which is huge; there's technically no such thing as "Tokyo City").

They're in the Tokyo area. Says so on the app Rena pulls up on page 15. 東京都 ネイル. Also, two of the ads mention specific neighborhoods, which are both in western wards of Tokyo City (Suginami and Setagaya). If you assume the app tracks the user's location and prioritizes ads that are nearby, then they're probably somewhere in the Western part of the former Tokyo City area. This is fairly centrally located, only a few miles away from the major administrative and financial districts.

Tokyo Metropolis includes suburbs going all the way west to Yamanashi, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Area includes the better part of 7 prefectures.

I just want to know one thing...so did the Auntie, best character imo, did something inappropriate to Sato, such as molesting or something or she was just...tainting her by example with her idea of "love" ??

There's been no indication or implication that she abused Satou physically. However, just growing up in that apartment would probably be traumatizing on its own. I don't know what it'd do to a child to have to witness their guardian regularly bring in "lovers" who beat her senseless.

Taiyou got fixed, how? well nvm, he got a happy ending of sorts

I doubt that, he had a Shio poster on his pocket ...He might just be so out of it ,it looks like he is "happy"

It's referring back to his flawless strategy for going back to having a normal life back from https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/happy_sugar_life_ch18#13

Now I'm just expecting Shio to find a girl who looks/acts similiar to Satou and have the role reversal.

That's how I expected this to end back when I started reading it. It just felt like one of those stories that repeats itself.

Where do I buy paint thinner? And how do you get high on that?

Of course I'm not gonna try but it makes me curious

Lots of household chemicals, like paint thinner, nail polish remover, cleaning chemicals, and certain types of glue contain volatile solvents that vaporize at room temperature. If you've ever used acetone for cleaning, then you'll know that it's best to make sure the room is well ventilated, or else you get light-headed or dizzy. I don't know what it's like to deliberately inhale concentrated acetone, or butane, or whatever chemicals people use, but I assume it feels like that, except more so. I know they say all drugs are bad for you, but inhalants can be particularly dangerous.

Just stick to drinking. Or regular drugs.

I was really confused about the paint thinner thing. But apparently that's what all the cool kids were doing.

Someone should just let these poor souls know where to get the marijuana hookup, before they do themselves an injury. Huffing solvents long-term will fucking kill you.

I don't even know anymore what Kurogane want out of this relation.

The series description literally calls these sexual relationships "contagious" on the cover of the next chapter.

I'm pretty sure Windows figured out numerical sorting over a decade ago.

I understand why it happens, that's not what I'm asking. I'd just like someone to fix it.

The pages for the recent Gakkou Gurashi chapter are in the wrong order. The page sorter seems to believe that 100 is less than 90.

They've said that the zombies seem to be drawn toward places that they have strong memories of, also we've been shown that some zombied people retain some modicum of their sanity for a while even after changing, so apparently she really really wanted to be there?

Did she even go to that school? They ran into her at the university.

Apparently that zombie Yuuri runs into was the psychopath chick from the college arc. I figured she was someone we knew since she gets a close up and Rii imagines her crushing Ruu's skull, but didn't remember at all until someone point it out.

I think the pages of ch 76 are uploaded out of order?

Yeah. When I count, I usually reach 90 before 100.

Rereading this, I think the same thing as before. The first two volumes went all over the place, so it's not surprising that it just kinda ends like that. But man, I really wish there was more.

Kotone just does not understand how close that girl is to pinning her down and kissing her face.

I wonder if she does know, and is just acting oblivious as a way to tease her.

Now, now—you know that’s not quite fair. The first sign of Drama Senpai appears in Chapter 10 (the mystery Valentine’s chocolates) and then in Chapter 22 we really start to get that story underway.

I agree that that there’s something of a tonal/thematic mismatch between the fluffy slice-of-life chapters (not that I mind those—I could watch Nanoha watch Chidori try on cute glasses pretty much indefinitely) and the Senpai-From-Sexual-Confusion-Hell arc, but I also think it’s pretty clear that this mangaka has been playing a long game for quite some time.

Yes, yes, I was just being silly. There's just a disconnect between this ominous-sounding saying that gives the series its title and the reality of the story as presented in the majority of the chapters up until now. Though now that I've thought about it (and edited my answer) I think that's probably more a case of the saying just not really being as ominous as it sounds on literal translation.

Has anybody commented on "Tsuki ni muragumo, hana ni arashi" meaning you can't count on things continuing to go well (well, sometimes it means that) which hana ni arashi is short for? I am not wishing for drama, but that seemed important.

I think the author thought it sounded like it'd be a cool name for a series, and then forgot about it. 40 chapters later, she finally remembered what the title was supposed to mean and had to jam in some drama.

Or maybe the title's supposed to refer to some kind of regular push-and-pull that goes on in each chapter? I'm not sure how the saying itself is used, but from what I read, it seems to be more like "good things in life are easily spoiled, and rarely last long". Each chapter does kind of follow a pattern of something silly getting in the way of whatever it is they're trying to do.

As for the maturity part, we're analyzing characters and themes here, not actual people. And the way that scene is framed among the other panels there, I think we're encouraged to judge the guy. It goes along with the title. Even though we're adults, we do X. Like the off-handed invites from person to person here in chapter 5 without thinking about the consequences at all and then just stumbling into a horrifying social situation.
It's probably a larger comment on this is what adults are actually like. I feel like we're encouraged to judge, and then it's up to us to question those assumptions. What does it mean to be responsible in these situations? For the waking up early stuff, is it an example of the guy being irresponsible or is it just part of his character? Is it bad? Does he change?

As for the sleeping in thing, I think more than judging him, it's supposed to give us insight into their marriage. They get along well, but all the romance is gone. It's like the rings that neither of them wear.

I agree with you about the title, and the bbq. Clearly no one wanted it to end up like that, but Akari impulsively agreed to go, then impulsively invited Aya, then impulsively invited the husband. Aya told him about it without thinking, and then he agreed because he's sort of in shock and isn't thinking clearly.

They seem like nice agreeable people, and being thoughtlessly agreeable seems to have caused them problems (probably more than just the BBQ, I think the having a kid thing too).

Yeah that too. It's like they automatically fall back on politeness when they don't know how to feel.

I'm not sure where you can even get Houseki no You na Mono these days. Looks like it was published through Amazon's manga imprint at some point. But apparently it sold out less than a month after being released (3 and a half years ago) and is currently out of stock. I think it must've been self-published at some point before that, or maybe the collected works were self-published individually.

The Kimi Koi no Limit afterward was from that anthology, so I know it exists.

If anyone knows where to buy it, let me know. I'd like to translate the rest of it.

Man, this poor guy. He really doesn't deserve this. Honestly, I kinda just want him to be happy.

#WataruDidNothingWrong

#TeamWataru

She told him about it in probably the most insensitive way possible. Even just laying it all on the table, "I fucked someone else" would've been better than the whole, "Hey, has anyone at work caught your interest lately?" Was that her way of breaking it to him gently? I kind of admire the honesty, but she could've tried to be a little nicer about it when she's informing him that's she's fucking cheating on him.

Prediction time: Ayano's going to get pregnant, and Akari's gonna get all mopey because she's seen this before, but Aya's going to leave her husband anyways. Dunno if those two will end up together.

Edit: seems like when I first read it, it hadn't been finished yet. But now it's all translated so its a double bliss, thank you!

This didn't really go anywhere.

I wouldn't really be that harsh. They're openly dating at the end, that's more than you can say about a lot of other stories here.

The end state of the story was different than the beginning state. So in that sense, yes, something happened. But the plot progression was not at all interesting. It had nothing to do with the premise, and it was very cliche on top of that.
