Back in college most folks said I was friendly as fuck ^^ To the point where some even made fun of me – but not in a mean way. I thought is was quite funny as well, since most people didn't really seem used to open and friendly behavior somehow. Even most teachers. One even asked me once if I meant it sarcastically when I wished him a good day. I had to laugh really hard and asked how exactly that would have to sound. Something like: “Have a nice day, asshole!” (＾∇＾)
We must be living in a cold and mean world, when people don't even feel comfortable anymore when someone wishes them a good day... ;)

Out on the street it differs...
Sometimes there are those days where you can't seem to lift a single muscle in your face at all...
But mostly when people walk by I smile and greet them, either with a wink or a nod or by saying hi when our eyes meet.
A lot of people say that we live in a quite unfriendly town... I really can't agree to that. ^^

My two cents about Mulholland Drive are just some crazy little ideas that popped up in my weird little head at one point or another ^^
It's probably not worth much but just for the hell of it (＾∇＾) Here we go:

And there's also another important fact about that movie that a lot of folks seem to forget about...

Well... originally Mulholland Drive was supposed to become a TV show... And most part of the movie material was actually intended to be just the pilot of that show.
So... say that Lynch was thinking about maybe an 8 episode show (the first season of Twin Peaks consisted of 8 episodes as well) or maybe even more... 'cause you know how TV shows work... “don't wrap everything up in the first season... because if you get lucky, there might be a season 2“ ;) That kind of thing.
But let's just assume that it would have been 8 episodes. The pilot material was about 2 hours long. Don't know exactly how much of that material he used for the film in the end, but it was quite a lot, half at least, I'd guess probably even more...
But that also means that the other half, let's say an hour approximately (maybe even less) was added at a later time when he gathered the cast back together again. And now imagine having to put the content of maybe 7 episodes or more into that one hour to wrap it all up somehow...

Might be that to you (and many others) it feels like a masterpiece close to perfection. It is one hell of an awesome movie, I agree. But I think that he had to make a lot of compromises finishing that movie and I'm sure, in his opinion, he was not able to perfect it in the way that it was originally intended...
And I also think that some details in the movie, that don't actually seem to make any sense or are just dangling there like a loose end, are a result of that rather complicated process...
So part of its success and especially part of that great mystery surrounding that movie was probably the result of that process and not just simply pure genius... That would be my guess at least.
When coincidences fall into place and create something wonderful...

Just what I've been thinking all this time... ~( ´•︵•` )~

I'm actually extremely curious about how that TV show would have turned out...

The blue box symbolically represents Diane's demise, more precisely when she opens it.

I like to keep guessing every time I see that movie... just because it's kinda fun (^___^)b
And I just like to think outside of the box ( ;) no pun intended ;) ) and don't just go with the first answer presented to me... so here are some ideas I had over time:

The mysterious little blue box that clearly is such a central piece in that movie, could be something like Pandora's box and after it's unlocked it completely turns things around and into a horror show after all the evils of the world flew out....? ^^
Here's the definition of Pandora's Box: “to open Pandora's box means to perform an action that may seem small or innocent, but that turns out to have severely detrimental and far-reaching negative consequences. The action cannot be reversed.“
We see unfulfilled desire, jealousy, lust, hate, despair, revenge, murder and death... after the box was opened, all of the innocence is gone...
It could also make some sense of that devil, we see at the beginning... - he might be the keeper of the box...

Or it once popped into my head that it's also a possibility that Diane could be trapped in Purgatory; forced to relive her nightmare and her own death over and over again. 'cause even some of those scenes after she wakes up seem rather unreal sometimes. That would explain that devil-like creature at the beginning as well, or the odd elderly couple that acts like haunting demons at the end, or the scene where Betty and Rita find Diane dead in her bed, a reminder that she's not alive anymore when reliving everything....

And the entire movie is kinda focused on the whole Hollywood dream factory idea in general... with the couple in the center just as a means of projection... We get caught in a glamorous dream at first and we're afraid to wake up from it, just like the man explains at the cafe at the beginning of the movie. He never wants to see the ugly truth: that monster that is reality. The corruption that is Hollywood.
The box representing reality in that case, that finally sucks in the dreamers to destroy their idealized fantasy. 'cause at the end of the day... there's just no way to escape reality and sometimes it's ugly and full of horrors...
So the one dreaming is not only Diane but rather us, the viewers, as well.
The devil being just a homeless man, as part of the ugly side of Hollywood.
Even the club scene... they directly tell the viewers that everything is just an illusion. We can apply all that to Diane in her dreaming state or to us directly...

It is a bold movie, that's for sure. I've seen it at least 4 times by now and I still keep wondering every time...
Of course I have no answers either... just funny ideas and confused thoughts... the dream theory is still the most obvious choice, of course.

And I should probably keep my two cents about their love story to myself, I guess ^^

When all you can think of is just lying down to sleep and you stop caring about everything else... when your whole body feels so heavy as if it's being dragged down by some force and you feel like you'll never be able to get back up again. Not an unpleasant feeling but... overwhelming...
But I have yet to die to find out ;)

had to split up into pairs and then sit opposite each other and stare into each others eyes for about 10 mins strate, no overting eye contact O-O it was so we could learn not you can read people's emotions not only through their face but just through their eyes, your eyes tell a story you see~
I also realised how much people actually overt eye contact in real life! And even though my school has pretty confident people (cos they are actors and dancers) when we talk we always have to look away for a second and then meet eyes against cos it's awkward XD

That might be a good practice for actors but usually, when you talk to someone, it is natural to feel uncomfortable when someone outright stares at you all the time ^^
Normal eye contact doesn't mean that you can't look away. You actually have to look away every now and then or people will think you're weird! ;)

This is a movie that needs, or rather, must be watched several times to start to understand it... but know that the first two hours of the movie is a dream, Diane Selwyn's dream, and it's built according to the freudian theory of a dream. The last half hour of the movie is the [final] Diana's return to the reality... In the end, in this schizophrenic love story, Love has triumphed over hatred.

He once said that he's into horror originating in the unknown so he probably just wants some things to stay unanswered... some things to not make sense, to leave loose ends behind, to keep people guessing...

Let me make a list for you, there's a "no H8" sticker on a skateboard, one of the girls have a "venus" symbol with something written on it on her jacket, at least 4 look as gay as it gets and then the flag yes.

I mean "die Katze" means the cat, but specifically it's a female, cos if you wanna say male cat you say "der Katter" right ? It's how I remember it.

The male cat is called Kater.
But if you refer to cats in general you would still use Katze in German. So it still can be both, male or female, whenever you say Katze. When anyone would ask you what kind of a pet you have at home. Most people would say "eine Katze“ without referring to the gender.
