EDIT: If you want to make the argument that "the execution of the plot doesn't really matter; it's the feels that count" we have nothing to discuss. Citrus was masterpiece of a feels-delivery system, but as coherent piece of narrative art it was one of the most epic disasters I've ever encountered.

MUL is nothing like Citrus...Citrus was only good at the beginning. After that there was no character development and no story. You really can't compare them, just because MUL might have some inconsistencies.

Maybe for some people the whole "has Reiichi actually cheated" thing is dragged. Personally I don't feel like it, because there is a good reason for it.
It is about how Kaoru deals with the situation. It is aligned with her personality of avoiding uncomfortable situations, just like her mom did when she was sick. The situation is dragged because Kaoru is dragging it.

Kaoru's whole point is not just loneliness and dependency, it's also her weak resolve.
Although I don't like her much, I find interesting reading about her, because it is a representation of a weak and maybe coward main character, something you don't come across in stories.
The whole ambivalence of whether there was a cheating is a great way to bring out Kaoru's true personality on the surface and even force her to change. If the situation was resolved fast, Kaoru would soon go back to her old ways.
Reiichi cheating-she would go back to how she was after her mom died.
Reiichi not cheating- keep living like she did during their first married days, and keep being insecure of whether he actually loves her or just married her out of obligation. Wasting years like that.

Considering all the trouble Uta coming home caused, I think the fact that her parents still openly ignore her angers me more than anything else.

Ignoring instead of pampering. God, they are HORRIBLE people!

Neglect is officially categorized as emotional abuse. Caring about their daughter's feelings is not pampering, it's what a normal humane parent should do.

I agree with with your assessment, except I don't think Risako is in love with Kaoru I can see where that is coming from, but from a story stand point I don't think that's the case. This is supossedly a romance story, and no matter how messy a romance gets it suppose to have a happy ending. Reiichi is a good guy, if a bit dence he deserves a happy ending as well. So when the dust settles and Kaoru ends up with Uta, Risako is his happy endings. He obviously loves her but gave her up on her to be by Kaoru's side.

Risako being in love with Reiichi is absolutely baseless. In fact, the evidence shows the opposite. She wasn't interested in him, but when Kaoru kept pushing to confess she started dating him. Even after dating him, she still didn't look like she cared.
Reiichi always liked her more than Kaoru (it is heavily implied he was consciously avoiding Kaoru confessing to him), so why would she give up on dating him to let him date Kaoru?

Also it makes more sense from a story theme pov, since all of the characters here want someone they can't have. It's not just Uta with Kaoru.

Considering all the trouble Uta coming home caused, I think the fact that her parents still openly ignore her angers me more than anything else.

Ikr. It's really frustrating to say the least.

Months have passed in the story and clearly Uta has not taken any action to run back to Kaoru. Her decision to keep those feelings dear are clearly not supposed to be a reversal. She bawled her eyes out to Kuro, kept trying to force herself to forget and it didn't work. So the solution was not to reject, but to embrace it. If it had continued on like this without any major incident, Uta would have become independent and maybe eventually have those feelings fade away naturally, but with a positive nostalgic outlook on them.

Kaoru's (literal) call for help is the reason this equlibirum she has achieved will be tested again. It's like spiling a single drop of oil into a water tank. The re-reversal you speak of is entirely kick-started Kaoru's initiative, not Uta's. But the decision of whether the water will be cleansed again is Uta's

I agree with this. Also this is one of the stages someone goes through during the moving on phase.
In the end, Kaoru was a big part of Uta's life, and she can still keep the memories and care about Kaoru without being in love with her.
Moving on doesn't mean she has to hate Kaoru or stop caring about her.

Kaoru is in the center of all the problems in this story. Her weakness and refusal to comfort and learn the truth drugs both her self in, as well as others. (i don't mean it in an accusing way)

Nice chapter though, I hope it doesn’t take too long to have some new developments on Aya and Risa.

If we get a new development in the next three months it will be nice. If I could bet, I'd give it more like 5-6 months lol.

Ok, thanks. I think some elements deceived me. In the past two chapters Aya seemed to have accepted her love life with Risa, she even had a talk with her mother and she had a different hairstyle. So I don’t really get it, to me this seems like a big step backwards regarding the development of the characters.

Well to be fair, Aya didn't say anything about breaking up to Risa now. It's just that Risa was recalling their break up, and due to her weak moment (of period suffering) she lashed out on Aya.

Also, the latest chapter with their current development was 17 (where Aya visits her dad in hospital) and we still see her hesitating. She was asking herself what should she do. So it wasn't like she had taken a decision and now changed it again.

Wait this chapter talks about something happened in the past right?

No, it's in the present. Only flashback is when Risa recalls when they broke up. (it's on black background to indicate past)

Ok, but the whole period thing and Risa lashing out mostly because of it was kinda funny lol. Feels like it wasn't as serious as it seemed from the raws.

"It hurts...
my period this month is so severe" lol

This new highschool girl addition feels pretty random. There wasn't any hint for her connection in the previous chapters, so it feels more like someone added for drama and extending the story.

Also the grim vibe and hints been given are not incorporated well imo, it feels like random ideas been thrown into the story rather than the author having a plan on what to do with them.

Despite that, this story is interesting.

NO! Subaru is mine MIIIIIIIIINEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Ahem ... eeh... I mean, it would be nice if she gets a lover too but maybe making both sisters gay might be a bit of a stretch

Why would it be a stretch? There are mangas (actually a great deal of the Yuri mangas) that the majority of the girls are not straight.
But I like how this bothered you more than the sisters being into each other lol.

If she gets a lover I hope it's a gf :P

"Aren't you going to wash your hands?"
Lmao very fitting to the current worldwide situation.

Also, I get weird shipping vibes between Subaru and her sister.
Am I the only one? I know this is not on purpose, but if they weren't sisters it would feel like a possible love triangle.

Stories like this feel like wishful thinking from the author lol. Sometimes it's too obvious when they make the mc a self insert.

What exactly is het?

A short for heterosexual. Is being used when there are straight couples in the story.

but name one long-running series in history that didn't have a major dip in storytelling at some point.

3 examples come immediately to mind: Bloom Into You, Girl in the Birdcage, Her Shim Cheong.

Haven't read Girl in the Birdcage, but you're at least right so far about Her Shim Cheong. Though I'd say we can only be sure when the translations catch up.

I'll probably come under fire for this, but I'd argue that Bloom Into You's last volume, or at least after Yuu confessed to Touko, was a dip in storytelling. Not that it was bad, but that it was boring and absolute nothingness.

AHHHHH ok I wanted to say for "Her Shim Cheong" I had to switch from English translations to Korean when they stopped translating the manhwa. I got an app and bought the chapters. And I AM MORE THAN CAPABLE OF TRANSLATING THE CHAPTERS AND CAN EVEN USE PHOTOSHOP AND ILLUSTRATOR TO PUT THE TRANSLATIONS IN.

Except I don't know where to upload it or how to share it. Are either of you interested in reading the rest of the manhwa?

I'm definitely more than interested, but I think it can't be uploaded here because it was licensed. Something like wdtfs. Only pirate sites like mangadex etc upload it. But since the translators stopped because of the license situation, these sites don't have anywhere to get the english version from. The official English chapters are really slow too.

I personally agree that the writing is bad. But it also seems that the author thinks and wants Mei to be this deep girl, but was/is unable to actually materialize it in a successful way.

On the other hand, when a character is silent and broken, a lot of people automatically connect that with being deep. Imo Mei is just a low eq person with some underlying issues. But maybe some people see this as being deep, which I can see why, and from that point on, I think what is right and wrong for Mei's character comes down to personal biases and tastes because she's just a fictional character. If she was a real person it would be different.
Someone can ignore or not see/care about all these inconsistencies and still like this manga and its characters.

Feels like Sayaka will be the next Mei of the series, but she seems worse. Also I don't think we will ever get an intimate scene between Mei and Yuzu. Maybe the author is holding that back on purpose.

There is no universal truth when reading a fictional story. There might be some general consensus from the majority, but others are able to interpret and insert their own biases into a character. Because it's a character and not a real person, so there is no objective truth or real motives.

Also, pretty sure that the author thinks Mei is a very deep character as well.

Not seeing how snapping under deliberate provocation is somehow grounds for declaring Sayaka an irredeemably abusive person. Anger management issues perhaps, but Yuzu's whole goal is to try fixing her obvious stress problems anyway.

Lol. Straight up punching someone because they faked being flirty with someone you don't even date is a major red flag. The other girl didn't even care about it. That's exactly what an abusive bf of one of my friends did. Guess what. He later was abusive to his gf too. It was Sayaka's sick jealousy, which irl slowly manifests into abuse.
Of course this won't happen here though, cause it's a story and real life rules don't have to apply.

I just hate how this type of sick jealousy getting romanticized and influencing some readers into thinking it's normal and that means the person must really love them. It would be easier to spot it if the story was with a guy doing it for a girl.
Also how Yuzu is portrayed. She just got punched, was threatened about her relationship with Mei, yet she doesn't even care about it, instead she goes "wow poor girl must be suffering so much". And this behavior is portrayed as something positive.

Romanticizing abusive relationships again. Poor Sayaka, it's not like she just punched someone on the face because of her immense insecurities and internalized homophobia, let's try to help her now too.
Because abusers have reasons for their actions, so let's try to understand them, help and fix them while suffering and while they don't even want the help.

...how the heck is it an "abusive relationship" when the violence was directed at an outside party. (That said third party decided to not take offense is their business.) The tensions within the relationship are of a completely different character.

It's not a "direct" relationship, it's the idea that Yuzu will start becoming friends with Sayaka, and Sayaka is presented as someone we should feel sorry for instead of staying away.

Good chapter but I'm tired of the Izumi arc. I would enjoy it more if these chapters were spread out between Nanaki and Kurokawa interactions.

What's interesting is that Nanaki is still blind to her feelings for Kurokawa. I thought that maybe this Izumi incident was going to make her realize it.

My impression, Risa's the more assertive of the duo, like she's not afraid to come out as a lesbian to family, friends and colleagues (which she has done). Aya on the other hand, doesn't seem to be as confident as her and so she ends up being the closeted lesbian who gives in to peer pressure. Naturally, those two will clash over their differences.

What happens at the end between them could go different ways. Probably the most realistic and harshest ending would be, Aya finds a man, gets married and have kids but ends up living a miserable life and regretting her choice. Risa being single and never truly happy without the love of her life. A hopeful ending would be those two reconcile and repair their once broken relationship.

True, I just wanted to add that Aya is not like Sumin. She knows herself and that she can't do it, and she doesn't string Risa along. So to me, Aya is not an unlikable character or a manipulative person.

I think the setup is pretty clear they will eventually end up together, the question for me is how. I would just really dislike it if this turns out to be something like Yuzu and Mei dynamic, where Risa always tries to make Aya reciprocate, while Aya is avoidant and doesn't work for the relationship.
I just wish to see the dynamic between them change now and Aya start working to be with Risa. Or Risa realizing that this is not the end of the world and she can live without Aya just fine.

I had a peek at Ch30 raws. Can't tell if its the past or the present time. Regardless, I feel pretty bad for Risa, who does kind of reminds me of Seju from WDTFS. This girl deserves better than having this false hope the love of her life will come back to her someday. As for Aya, she's seriously deluding herself if she thinks she can pretend to act straight, get married and have kids for the sake of her family's happiness...

The first panels is in black, so these are the only flashbacks. But the rest of it from Risa talking with Miyu is in the present The author said it's their current situation too.
I'm just not sure if the flash back is from back when Aya broke up with her for the first time or if it's a second break up a few days ago the current situation

I also agree with you about Risa, she's like my favorite, but if we are more objective, it was also her who was kinda forcing her way on Aya, despite Aya telling her to back off.
What happens between them next is going to be important for different reasons.

Yet another great chapter.
My favorite part was in the end where Shimizu blubbered everything out on Maekawa's dad, despite being really pessimistic about their relationship five minutes ago.

What is the father supposed to be shocked about more? Maekawa suddenly entering his life (indirectly) and having a new manga, or the fact that this info was delivered by her GF?
