I know it's easier to just blame the big company, but if what they said is true, that they asked for Tatsuki stop doing whatever he wanted with the franchise and he refused, there was nothing they could do. Someone really expected they to say: "Okay then, just do whatever with the franchise we're paying for".
Don't forget two of those shorts were actually ads. Doing this behind the company who owns the rights for the series is not a smart or right thing to do.

Asking Rin to wait for her is asking a lot while at the same time giving her basically nothing, as she always has. All Kou did was lip service. She never walks the walk. Everything is still about her and how is she expecting Rin to wait "a couple of years"? It's either oblivious or brazenfaced. Kou really isn't girlfriend material and it would be good if Rin found someone more deserving of her.

Man, that sounded rather bitter. Up till now I had liked Kou as a character, but this is a bit much to chalk up to her being dense. You just don't do that. I think I'll get some Nene and Umiko nendoroids when they are released.

I completely agree with you tbh, but I've been souring on Kou for a while, someone please bring on the angst doujins about Rin realising Kou isnt good for her and starting to look for new love.

Agreed, also that scene with Kou/Rin wasn't even really overt subtext, it just felt like a lot of nothing in comparison to Aoba's scene.

Secondly did you actually watch ATLA at all? The fire nation under the sozin line of rule didn't give a shit whether you a man, woman, old, young, crippled all they cared about was: Are you willing to fight and die for the future of the nation?
If the answer was yes then great, that only started to change when Ozai took control of the nation because he was a self absorbed megalomaniacal monster who simply wanted the world for himself removed from sozins vision.

Now consider: why would such a nation seek to alienate potential soldiers/scientists for no reason at all especially considering said nation is very far removed from things like traditions unlike the water tribe?
But please continue to assume I'm naive and know nothing of how the world works, see how that works out for ya.

Now since everyone on here seems to have just skimmed over my main point, it'd make FAR more sense for the water tribe to have enforced something like this but no we cant do that, that'd show that the "good" tribe was actually kinda flawed and everything needs to be black and white.

That is just really lazy and stupid explanation why them falling for each other and entire romance wasn't hinted at all in the show and came out of nowhere. And it still doesn't make sense, because even if he made up a law like that, he was defeated ages ago, so people would disregard it before Korra was even born. See this'd make more sense if the water tribe banned it because they had very strict enforcement of gender roles, but the fire nation? barring the tyrannical rule thing they have always been progressive and a leading force of science in the world.

tbh when these leaks first came out I was excited, then they did the really dumb and easy route of "hey did you know firelord sozin was literally hitler? he banned the gays too!" despite having no reason to and that not alligning with his motivation at all.

Firelord Sozin was a Tyrant yes but judging by what we saw of fire nation society under that rule he wouldn't give a shit who you were in love with so long as you fought for the fire nation and were fiercely loyal.

Also "that guy was a jerk" HE COMMITTED GENOCIDE KORRA THATS A TAD MORE IMPORTANT

But yes, we'll just have to wait. Raws stuff I read on reddit, so yeah SPOILERY although apparently in the manga there is no real interaction between Kou and Rin before the former's departure.. This is disappointing, we'll have to see how they deal with it in the anime; which seems to take a more emotional/darker turn.

Thats super disappointing, honestly I really jus want Rin to have a love interest thats not kou cause these recent chapters convinced me that she doesnt really deserve her at this point.

I'm just frustrated because there's too many loose ends. If you bother to make a plot about a love story between a robot and a human, then you better see it through, until death do them part.

Or until one of them realises the glory of machinery and becomes a cyborg because cybernetics is the true way to go.

this is genuinely uncomfortable to me because unlike the classic "my daughter is into mother daughter incest" the mother here is acting like an actual mother would to her child and theres an instant "ew" factor to that.

Tbh if I may, I wouldn't mind this sort of drama.......were this not a CGDCT series that has been teasing yuri the whole time, I complained before about it never going anywhere and that annoyed me before accepting that it was just a silly teasing manga that wouldn't go anywhere.

And now completely opposed to that tone we're getting a character essentially shunted off to the sidelines with some actual drama involving what is possibly the most popular ship of the show...........and I know thats still going to go nowhere, it feels like two different mangas are trying to fight for dominance here and its creating a weird atmosphere.

Also just on a personal note it makes the character of Rin very sad to me, she never said what she wanted to to kou for years and years and kou never thought of her the way she wanted until eventually kou moved away without Rin ever confessing.
What im saying is Rin deserves better and I want her to get a girlfriend by the end of this series (but it wont happen)

What I don't get, why wont Kou discuss this with Rin? Her oldest and closest friend...

as a sidenote that was the most badly written death I've ever seen in fiction, as was Historias non reaction to it, it basically made me drop the manga with how bad it was
