Why the Fate series won’t feature female protags for their anime, I’ll never know.

Gudako (the female protagonist of Fate/Grand Order) is canon.

The protagonist of Fate/Grand Order -First Order- is Gudao, so no, not really. They continue the tradition of using boring generic male protagonists.

Maybe because male protagonists are more popular

Fate/Prototype has a female protagonist, but it's directed at het girls and not yuri fans.
And @Homura E.N.D I thought it was because an game-based anime is only good if it has a generic self insert with either no personality or a generic personality for the male watches to project themselves onto. /Sarcasm
But seriously, they should use the female protagonist for a change, or even both the male and female as equally important (and give the male an actual personality).

lol, Fate/Prototype is also nonexistent as a full anime series, so that doesn't count. Fate/Prototype's source material doesn't exist either, just a prequel series of light novels. That means TM can continue their streak of male masters in their anime adaptations.

Also I'd still say that Hakunon being the protagonist of Last Encore would've been a bigger disservice to her with the premise it had. The role and personality the protagonist of that show had was unflattering to say the least. Not to mention the role Hakunon had in that show also retroactively pushed her to be the canon protagonist of the games, so that's another good thing.

I wonder if anyone has ever asked Nasu/ whoever's in charge of the anime as to why they chose male protag over female protag, other than the usual self-insert.
If GBF can have Djeeta as the "main" character (though it's non-canon and just for 1 episode, but at least it's better than just cameo/ no mention at all), then why can't the Fate series do the same?

A cynical take on using the FeMC for that GBF episode would be that it was a beach episode, so picking a female protagonist would mean another female character wearing a swimsuit to leer at.

Talking about cameos, I never watched Last Order but I know Gudako has a cameo in it. And for some reason her hair is auburn and not orange.
Edit: and @LumberingCrane, wouldn't that still mean she dies?

Yeah, but that already applies to every single character of the show. People are just justifiably salty since they showed her death during the first scene of the show for shock value.

Hakunon and Gudako have scored higher in the popularity polls and have more fan art of them made. They're canon in our hearts.

Gudako is technically canon but they just really really favour Gudao more :/ I wish they really use a FemProtag for once.

I like the fate series but I haven't kept up with it, but I do wish that they had more female characters that had important roles in anime in general.
Also this picture is SUPER HOT and i have no idea who the characters are but I hope they atleast have some undertone gayness so then people can be like " MAKE ThEM YURI!!!!"

^Meltlilith, just like all alter egos, has a hardcore super crush on the protagonist, which you can (and like 99% do) choose to be female. Hakunon is the best option anyway, because she gets the best of both worlds. All the girls and all the boys.
