Note that most people - even fans of the Fate series - agree that the first anime (the 2006 version) sucks, especially compared to the the original visual novel.
That being said, this is a really cute picture. Heck, all of Ticcy's Diana x Akko stuff is wonderful.

Which Fate anime is the best to watch?

I enjoyed (mostly) Unlimited Budget Works. But as I was later told it's probably the worst place to start, and I'll have to agree. Most people say start with the 2006 anime or fate/0. Fair warning: watch the original sub of the 2006 anime, cuz the dub is absolutely ABYSMAL. And I was nearly bored to sleep from the first episode of 0 and I haven't gone any further, but I've been told it gets better so what do I know.

Everyone says "read the fucking visual novel" but I got bored of it about 15 minutes in. Then I blasted through Fate/Zero and it's still the best anime I've ever watched. But I still want to get through the VN before watching ufotable's Fate/stay night stuff.

Shirou "People die when they are killed" Emiya? Shirou "You celebrate being born on your birthday" Emiya? Shirou "Just because you are correct, doesn't mean you're right" Emiya? That Shirou Emiya?
He's okay.

I do find it funny how everyone has such crazy different suggestions on which series to start on or avoid. I thought UBW was the best hook, it has the most action and best characterization, I think. Zero is pretty slow and heavy on drama, and the ending is kind of... weird.

^ Fate Zero's ending serves two purposes; one to bookend and encapsulate the pessimistic/nihilistic themes of the show, and to set up events that would lead into FSN. That's why its not conventional as a regular ending should be.
On the subject of which Fate anime to start off with, just start with the original 2006 FSN. People say it isnt good because it tries to mash all the VN routes into a 24 episode anime, but for those who don't know anything about the visual novel, the anime does a pretty good job immersing you into Type-Moon's world and rules for when/if you decide to go into the other series' later.

Little Witch Academia is fun. Don't expect it to be as homoerotic as all the fanart makes it look, but there's definitely a bit of subtext if you have your yuri goggles on hard enough.

That's a bit disappointing. I know the artist(author?) had a piece of yuri art with these two kicking around and I had hoped that had worked its way into the show a bit more.

There's official art with lots of subtext, and some production staff even go as far as publishing bits of yuri fanart as personal pieces. But lesbian romance (or romance of any kind) isn't a focus of the series, at least according to the Word of God.

Is Akko supposed to be Irisviel? Is that not Rin's coat and skirt?
Edit: After a quick google search, which I may or may not regret adding "Rin Tohsaka" to my search history, yes that is Rin's jacket and skirt. Irisviel has a darker burgundy coat and a white skirt. God, what is with this site and it's repeated insistence on making me learn more about the fate franchise than I want to?
Edit 2: This is now, somehow, somewhat related to this entire situation
