I know I'm gonna get Crucified for saying this but I honestly didn't see any subtext going on between Saber & Irisveil.

Call me crazy but I'd kind of like an equivalent but with like Shirou instead of Irisviel.

Is it bad that the only reason I recognized the Guilty Crown reference is because of Siivagunner?
Edit: I guess it's not a bad thing at all. Nice >:]

While I have heard of Guilty Crown, I had to look it up to see why this has anything to do with it... My immediate thought was Utena. I'm old. :p

Oh boy siivagunner. Other than that, my first thought was the Shining Tears and Wind anime, but it’s probably a Guilty Crown reference. I have no clue. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I thought firstly about Utena too, but this position looks more like Guilty Crown.
Btw, I don't think that except a very small amount of people are shipping this two or seeing a little bit subtext.

@sorathecrow. As long as Shirou is in that same pose and in that same outfit.

Apparently pulling magical swords from your princess/lover's chest is a common trope? I did not see that coming.
Oh man! It's been awhile since we got Saber X Irisviel!
And while it may seem like this is small crowd, there's a huge Chinese fandom for these two. I personally thought that there wasn't much between them cause Irisviel is too focused on her husband, but putting on my Yuri goggle, I am sold on Saber crushing on Irisviel.
Their first date was cute, the fact that Saber trusts her back with Irisviel and vows to protect her, the gentle way Saber held Irisviel in her arms after she was attacked, the accommodating smile Saber had while Irisviel was driving, the subtle gloom that came over Saber as she realizes Irisviel is dying, and her refusal to cut the Grail in the end, and the look Saber had on her face when she saw Illiya again... It takes a lot of imagination for these two to be together, but they look really, really good together, and I'd take the leap of faith any day.
And the sword pulling is definitely from the classic that is Utena. GC came later, but it gets kudos for doing a good job of it, haha.

It makes perfect sense as utena/ anthy trope, actually. I'm pretty sure that is the reference.
