I really love these two together, not only for historical reasons but also because they look so damn good together.

^The one on the right is Yamato, the battleship of battleships. The one on the left is Yahagi, a light cruiser. There is a shared history between them, both sailed together in the Operation Sho-Go, which resulted in one of the largest naval battles in history, but more importantly, they were the only two larger ships in the Operation Ten-Go, the rest being mere destroyers. Ten-Go was basically a suicide mission, and quite pointless in practical terms, since there was no chance whatsoever of even dealing any damage to the enemy. It was basically enacted to provide the Imperial Navy a decent death, rather than anything else, and both the Yamato and the Yahagi were sunk by US planes during it.

That's a very informative piece ^ I appreciate it even though I wasn't the one who asked.
