Tomoko is lowering her expectations and simultaneously upping her game. She has zero prospects of a boyfriend - thank God, as her "master plan" initially was to fuck as many boys as it took to become popular. She is much happier and less afraid and hate-filled now. Her first year of HS ends up being the low point of her life - Kuroki Fail included. I think realistically she probably will have a girlfriend if the series goes on long enough. Of sorts.

I legit cried during the one chapter where Tomoko finally realizes what happened but it's too late now (kinda obscured to prevent spoilage).

juanelric In the campus tour volume 14 (almost as important as the school field trip), Megumi sees Tomoko with Asuka and Ucchi, happy as a clam, but Tomoko does NOT see Megumi. Megumi seems happy for Tomoko but very, very wistful. Anyway, as Tomoko is walking away, Megumi thinks "I'm waiting, you know, Tomoko-chan*?" It's pretty suggestive that Megumi is one of the girls that likes Tomoko maybe as more than a friend.
