@flips I wouldn't say there is very much if any subtext between these two. In fact, in the visual novel Mai has her own route, and Sayuri has a secret mini route. I guess I could see how someone could ship them though.

Honestly, in the 2006 adaptation, the subtext is stronger. With no Mai route, it's more a case of a Friend (Yuuichi) helping his lesbians friends with her troubles.
Having industrial powered googles like mines helps too.

Industrial powered goggles are when you ship them hard after the 2002 anime. Still my OTP, mainly due to their turning my goggles on to begin with.

I don't know if i'd call it subtext exactly, but they do move to America together in the anime and have sex in the bath together in the original game, so i'd call them shippable.
