You cannot look me straight in the eye and tell me with absolute certainty that this will not end up in yuri. I'm not saying it WILL, but I am saying Lara will not end up with the prince. Surely you can use your eyes, and if you watched the episode with Hime, the show straight up tells you there's more fish in the sea

I watched the new episode, sure things could end up not being Yuri but the show still isn't over yet. I've figured since early on that if it does end up being Yuri she'll need to go through things with Luca/Prince first that then resolve and lead into letting go of that relationship to be with Mari. Maybe it won't happen and the series will end with her being with Luca, however until the series is over we don't know what will happen and the doomposting after every episode lately is so exhausting.

I think the issue is people getting ahead of themselves, even being annoyed about the adaptation writer not being right "for a yuri series," when this being a yuri series has not been established yet. The panicked responses are coming from that. I think it's fine to wait and see though and that's what I've been doing. Things were treated as definitive much too early, and if this does turn out with the male lead, some of that misleading structure (and marketing) might not have been by accident. Hopefully that's not what happens. Otherwise, I do agree she'd likely need to move past her situation with Luca before anything with Mari.

Letting it play out and not getting ahead of ourselves isn't being pessimistic. I'm not really fussed about this show in general. It could go either way. Believing it's not yuri isn't fully justified yet but so is the opposite; that's all I feel about it.

@GestalRoyale how was THAT supposed to be an extinction event lol. The discourse over this show is exhausting to even catch a glimpse of, and I think it's best for me not to see it, ever. Not until ep. 12's over and we know for sure.

Man, that episode sure felt weird.
I don't think Luca is endgame material. So what if he "likes you because you're you", aside from some earnestness there's nothing remotely interesting or endearing about him so far, he royally fumbled his date without even noticing, has no sense of propriety, tact or timing and can't read the room even with reading glasses on.
Show's gonna have to do some heavy lifting to make him remotely likeable or interesting. Or they could do the right thing and commit to the obvious Mari endgame... Which imo was hinted at once again with Mari tensing up when Grace mentioned Luca might be the one with whom she'd find "true love".
I say Luca's an elaborate ruse, nothing more, and this episode will be a neat piece of literary red herring in the grand scheme of things.

I mean the show had to do something with the guy, since he's in been in promotional material and the OP since before the beginning, and he was already noted to be very obviously a prince lookalike/reincarnation from the start. By like ep. 2, when the Yuri signs started becoming clear, I was already predicting that people would start dooming when he showed up, and I seem to be right.

Yeah that's a completely different series by a different studio. Here, we have the Revue Starlight studio with its assistant director leading this show. If by ep. 12 the dog shows up at my door with checkmate and eviction papers, and then drives off with my car, then, you know... sucks... but we can't use fucking Eupho here as a gotcha

Viewing it objectively I think the whole business is overblowing it. It'll become very obvious withing 1-2 episodes which "side" they're committing to.
And independent of the question of Yuri or Not, I think Luca could be charming if we got to know him better (hey just like Lara wants to do). Equally though if he stays this dull I'll be mad. There's also too much surrounding Mari narratively to dismiss it as "yurin't" too soon.

just throwing my 2 cents here, but comparing lara's expression, the floating fish obelisk appearing, the spark effect, etc from episode 2 VS lara's reaction to luca's confession + the ending of episode 7; I really do think she's gonna realize that his friendship is closure after all that happened in the past life, but ultimately he's not the one for her. if the obelisk representing her feelings has more of a reaction to her best friend then the (reincarnated?) prince himself... Considering the difference in circumstances, the fact that the Revue Starlight staff member was an assistant, and the fact that Goodbye Lara is an entirely original animation (as in, no manga or novel about it before it), using other series as evidence for doomposting does sound silly to me
but idk man, canon or not aside, coming to a cute comic in the yuri site and immediately going BOOOOHOOOO THIS WON'T EVER BE CANON WAAAAAAAH is...... a choice
