I know this a joke. Having stated that, this hurts me because it reminds me of how old I'm getting. Back in the 1980's (yes 40 years ago) this comic wouldn't have been a joke. At worst it would be a SLIGHT exaggeration. Some people just didn't get it.

I don't think this should be painted as an age thing when every generation has plenty of resistance to schooling and plain stupidity. Especially since every "The kids can't even" is truly just an admission of failure to teach them.
If people ever seemed vaguely competent with computers it was the turn of the century, when advancements in software ergonomics could flourish in the absence of modern and user-hostile exploitative designs.
