Yes Ryuko & Mako is one of my favourite ships. Funny cause usually I much prefer the rivals/enemies to lovers to the wholesome friends to lover tropes but even before I arrived at the episode that reveals (SPOILER ALERT) the relation between Satsuki and Ryuko, I still didn't ship them as much as Mako and Ryuko. I guess Mako's insanity makes up for how wholesome ships aren't usually my favourites xD

I think Nonon x Satsuki and Ryuko x Mako being so good is part of why we didn't get as much Ryuko x Satsuki as we might have in a similar series without those canon pairings.

This ship is literally what carried the show for me!! (And the action scenes, and plot…for the most part-) THEY HAVE THE MOST CANON DYNAMIC YOU WILL NEVER CHANGE MY MIND THAT THEY WERE INTENDED BUT WERENT CANON CANON INCASE OF BACKLASHHHHHH

People brush it off because mako is often seen as the “dumb dumb idiot just there for comic relief” and while yes she is the comic relief she does have characteristics and a personality under her “stupidness”
