Doesn't work for theming of entire series and character specific plots, no. Things going as they do does.
I wish I could write something specific, but as soon as you get into details it ends up as spoilers. Just wish as many people as possible experienced Flowers themselves as possible.

Hence why I said, as much as that pair was more interesting than what we got, the latter plot obviously wouldn't fit. Even if I wish the latter plot would never happen, cause this series has the most disappointing ending to any visual novel I read.

that's exactly what's so deeply frustrating about trying to get people into Flowers. it's nearly impossible to explain its full appeal without getting into the weeds, and getting into the weeds would require to dive deep into spoilers. so you just end up skirting around all of that hidden portion of the story and end up sounding like a cultist who tries to lure innocent people into a shady religious cult. not that i mind being labelled as one. i am a Flowers cultist.
