They did announce a new animation project for the series.
People thought they were referring to those 6 shorts put up on Youtube and got disappointed but the Director said in an interview back in April that isn't the case and there's another thing he's been working on ever since the original anime aired back in 2022.
So there is smth else coming that could end up being a sequel, we just don't have specifics yet.

As far as I remember LycoReco is getting a season 2, and the shorts were meant to be a fun extra that gives a little more between seasons to help the wait.

I guess I wasn't very clear. I was talking about The Matrix.
The ONLY Matrix movie.
Although if there was another Matrix movie, this probably would be a reference to one of the more iconic scenes.
If those movies ever existed, that is.
