Her only given name in most official sources is just listed as "DJ PON3" which is already clearly a stage name.
In the early days people were arguing about what her real eye colour was, let alone her name. Vinyl was just the one that stuck. Hasbro's refusal to actually pick a proper name actually worked in the fandoms favour and led to the long standing theory she named herself and refuses to tell anyone what it really is.
And that's not even the most popular fan theory surrounding her. Just wait till you hear about the vampire thing.
