^The arguable main event that really cemented the ship as popular happened in the manga awhile back, I'm pretty out of the loop with the anime but I think it might have happened there as well? Which would put all fans of the series on the same page.

I thought it's because manga ended with controversial quality and people are rejecting reality and substituting their own

It might be because of the epilogue manga chapter. Ochako was dreaming of Toga, where she was basically telling Ochako to pursue her happiness. Then she goes to meet Deku, implying the two are getting together.

But even with that is kinda fuel for the OchakoxToga ship.
