this is coming from a commenter by the name, arceuf. " the trend is that korean women and japanese women should start dating each other bc of the misogyny of men in their culture. if you look up 日韓百合 on twitter you'll see a lot of this kind of fan art"

plus, I found this discussion from reading 누ぐ (Nugu). it's quite a tense topic of why these fan arts are showing up.

The misogyny is crazy as fuck btw, it's actually insane how sexist Korea is (can't speak for Japan cuz I never lived there but I heard things)
Won't get into details cuz it's depressing but I'm just happy to see something cute emerge at times like this

^I think you can get an idea from anime and manga
• Female students and office workers are required to wear miniskirts even during snow days
• Female combatants almost always stop fighting when they marry (Naruto is especially bad with this)
• Women around 30 are considered "too old to marry"
• Girls can marry as early as 16 while boys have to be 18
And on the topic of Naruto, Sakura was the only female character that won a battle against a non-female character (Hinata didn't even win a single onscreen battle as far as I can remember)

I can recommend you all Sayaka Murata's books-- she mainly deals with gender, in her own way, and has touched on the theme of marriage (e.g. in her debut novel, "Konbini Ningen," which also touches on heteronormativity).

^^ yeah it's sad to see. There's so much misogyny, some misogynist incel got mad at the cute Yuri arts and drew a bunch of versions with a man between the Yuri couple. I think the original artist got so upset with that, they deleted the og art of the couple. It's sad to see, i hope the artist returns

^Damn that's unfortunate. Especially with the original artist deleting their art. That almost feels like they're saying "you win" to the incel or something.

^ yeah tbf the incel asshole got clowned on a lot on Twitter (like seriously, people drew his self insert OC pregnant lmao), but i kinda understand the og artist, it's messed up when people draw your characters without permission, specially in a horrible way like yuri haters do. But I hope they return, these assholes can't feel like they're allowed to spread hate and win.
