^Khyle is typically known enjoying edgy/shocking "humor", and hiding strange things in their art. They were also banned in Germany on Twitter if I'm remembering correctly, for making a piece of art in poor taste about WW2.
This art seems to be one of their tamer ones though, unless I'm missing something

^^ If you need another point of comparison check the Dawn/Pokemon image that by this artist that was uploaded here previously and just look at the clues in the background.
There's a pretty good video on YouTube that does pretty well in explaining their whole schtick. It's a little clickbaity, but even in the video they admit it's only controversial in the sense that no one ever expects the dark humor or how they seem to be able to consistently pump out an absurd amount of high quality art in a short amount of time.

Jun 8, 2024 5:45AM
^^ Is there any evidence about the "banned in germany" claim, besides the original tweet having been removed since (internationally, it seems)? Because, uh... I can see him just fine. Nor is that really how german laws work. (Not that the microblogging service wouldn't care for them anyway.) So to me this seems like a rumour to gain clout.

@Zesc and @DaZero Ah okay, good to know then thanks. I just remembered something about them getting banned in Germany when they put out that art because Twitter was making a big deal about it. So I wonder what's up with that, maybe it was temporary? The only thing I can find off hand is this Reddit post talking about it at the time, https://www.reddit.com/r/Philippines/comments/10odec3/this_filipino_artists_work_is_now_banned_on/

The problem with this artist IMO is that they've made "2edgy4me" into their personal brand, which ironically makes their output kinda stale. Part of successfully being edgy is being able to shock, and you can't do that when everyone expects it from you already.
FluffyCow
Jun 9, 2024 2:44PM
^Yeah that's a general issue with shock-value artists and related, after while it simply becomes a case of well they're doing their thing again, and that's the general reaction. Part of why I don't particularly hate this piece is that it's a pretty straight forward bit of sex humor / implication, nothing too edgy or shocking. Some people might find it stupid, others might be amused by the implications. At least it's not their usual brand of edge, that's the main thing I can say.

On the current topic: I think Khyle is not trying to be edgy for the sake of begin edgy, but just has an genuinely transgressive humour. I enjoyed some of his works, but many are just groan-worthy blue comedy.
@Doctor_Hoot
I'm a strong proponent of the Death of the Author, under which every work must be critiqued agnostic to the creator. I won't have my emotions about a piece of art invalidated by some corporate hack going "well ackshually, they are just close friends", and if a romance resonates with me, it does that no matter whether or not the author is a dude.
@FluffyCow
Outside of content mills I only found that thread too, but since I don't speak Filipino, and the veracity of reddit on anything but crayon flavours is minimal, I think it might just be rumour. The image in question didn't drop the Wolfenstein clanger of displaying NS emblems (=illegal), and for everything else, the state has no real means to control or censor art (like, say, calling something "entartet"). So I go with rumour on this one.

Personally, I enjoy Khyle's work, he is legitimately talented and I really like analyzing every new drawing to catch the hidden easter eggs he hides on each piece. Sometimes an entire story is hidden in the background of multiple pics like the story of Kobayashi's dog or Misato and Asuka's feud for Shinji.
