@FluffyCow: since we know Shiho is in the anime and thus it will go further than just adapting up to when Yori and Himari start dating, I can't imagine the ending not being awkward since Shiho's storyline would definitely require a second cour to wrap up. I'll pre-emptively hope for S2 as well, though it's not like we aren't used to yuri anime adaptations doing the setup and stopping just short of the payoff, see YagaKimi as you mentioned and also AdaShima.

@Givemeanaccount I was talking more about animes where girls love is the central aspect, so stuff like yuru yuri, sailor moon or cardcaptor Sakura for exemple would not really count. You absolutely have a point with Marimite though, I didnt think about that one at all. I stand corrected!

@BeanBeanKingdom: Yeah those are my thoughts as well, I really want to see the conclusion of Shiho's story in the anime but unless they rush it (which I don't want either) 12 episodes won't cover that. So we need more than the standard 12 episode season. Also yeah unfortunately with YagaKimi it really needs another season to get that satisfying payoff that the manga has.
@Kojiro481: Yeah Yuru Yuri to me is more of a comedy series than anything. Also if we're going with Maria Watches Over Us being the last lesbian focused series in this regard that was over 10 years ago, so we're definitely due for some new season 2s haha
