I've been watching this anime recently. I expected was some cute anime vampire girls with some heavy yuri subtext.
What I did not expect was a story with brutal violence, court intrigue, terrorism, and themes on death.

^It was actually a surprisingly fun show up to somewhere in the middle. The ending "arc" of the anime really felt as if they tried to push way too much at once though.

Much like decent amount of yuri LN, a good place to end it would be in Season 2 equivalent where- oh, hm, dunno how to make spoiler box here. Let's go with Volume 5.

The anime was a bit of a disappointment. It cut out a lot of fun stuff like Nelia wanting to make Komari her maid, the production quality was pretty shit, and it reduced a lot of good moments so they didn't really hit much (the entire finale for instance)
