^From what I know maize is an important part of Kukulkan's mythology.

Tbh, I'm not sure what the exact connection between Kukulkan and maize is, but I know maize was a staple of the Mesoamerican diet and played an important part in every Mesoamerican mythology, including the Maya mythology, while Kukulkan was the ploomed serpent and/or flying serpent god in the Maya pantheon, becoming arguably the most venerated Maya diety during the post-classic (especially during the era of Chichen Itza's dominance). Kukulkan was also probably an imported god from Teotihuacan, and other Mesoamerican cultures had an equivalent diety. For example, the Nahua peoples, including the Toltecs and Aztecs, had Quetzalcoatl.
