^It let us all down. If you're interested, I've written two fanfics of them because if Gust and by extension Koei Temco won't give them the ending they deserve, someone will. Gust already has a canon yuri pairing of Nights of Azure's Arnice x Lilysse

They went with the just friends ending for them. Through out the game they talked about ryza helping klaudia heal her mom illness and set up a lot of thing that would make them being together a good thing. klaudia being a travelling merchant and ryza being traveling alchemist. And how their goals are the same and ryza wanting to find an apprentice and klaudia needing to find a cure for her mom. Them at the end even acknowledging that traveling together is for the best instead just saying it would be for the best. But for some reason we wont and if we meet each other while travelling we might or might not travel together for a while if we don't we don't oh well. Also every other ship got together by the end even talked about one of the other characters parents getting back together. But for theses two nothing except klaudia talking about people asking her to marry them and saying she wants to be alone forever while still always focusing on ryza no matter what's going on like she has a crush on her like always. There's a lot more but I don't want to make this longer.

Not to mention that Gust's second Blue Reflection game, Second Light, has one of the most genuine-feeling GxG romances I've seen in game media as a strong side plot (Rena and Yuki). Plus main character Ao and few other girls flirt so blatantly not even a stone could misunderstand what it was all about.
So Gust can do it, quite well even, if they put their minds to it.
Atelier stuff seems more like intentional annoyance, because back in the day it was decided not to put romance in them. Instead, you get juicy thighs and other light fanservice that feels artificial without it actually going anywhere.

^ they are made by the same company but have different directors and writers so the same people didn't make them. Blue reflections knew what they wanted with the first game being more subtext and the second being more open about it. But atelier people act like their afraid to have any romance with their mc's. with the most we've gotten is sophie x plachta and they did everything in their power to say they are together without actually saying it.

^^^^Didn't the director behind Blue Reflection say that they had a male protagonist for the mobile game because "it was always supposed to be like that"?

^ The only interview I've seen regarding it is the one talking about sun started being made before the anime and tie and was suppose to be a self insert game. And how they think it'll do better then the rest because of the self insert and it's less about drama between girls or something like that

^^nah they just made every other ship cannon and the two girls set something up but scraped it at the end.@Krugger and the second game is still acted the same like she had crush on ryza util ryza made the matching bracelets for them. Even in the 3rd game she mostly focused on ryza when things where happing even when no one else was. And when she started talking about people asking her to marry them but her not wanting to and wanting to spend her life alone with no one family and not marrying anyone. It was clear they wheren't going to make them cannon but I held out hope.

Blue reflections sun is basically just generic harem of a male self insert there is a reason why no one is talking about that game even more so then the main series. It was a split in the face but gust and making bad moves go hand and hand lately.
