I love those two, and I love the novels. I'm not sure how good the anime was, since I have to wait to watch it (I promised to watch it with someone). But the novels were just so fun. And I think volume 4 is released this month

Anime was alright. Having never read any of the original material I went into it blind. It's super typical royal fantasy rom/drom schlack that I basically treated like junk food.

Also, weirdly, despite technically being an isekai, that fact is so minor it's basically irrelevant. So if you really want some dumb high fantasy anime bullshit yuri, this one's pretty alright.

Its way better than swag made it sound lol. First its art and animation are way above typical cheap ass production value isekai's like ledale or 'i said to make my abilities average' got. Good voice acting, and funny, and manages to avoid many tropes of the genre.

All the characters have some depth beyond what you first think - you see their growth/change and the multiple layers to their characters. And it displays proper realised yuri and isnt just bait! Plenty of people rated it one of the best anime of the season and I agree- there is no way id call it super typical junk food anime lol.

If you've read and love the LN you will surely really enjoy the anime. Sure there are some changes and omissions to fit it into a 12 ep anime but I basically thought it perfectly captured the LN as best they could in 12 eps.

And yes part 4 of the LN comes out in 10 days on the 18th :)

p.s Swag- the Isekai element plays a huge pivotal role in the anime/LN even with only mentioned a few times.
Its the whole driving force behind all of Anis's actions and emotions. Events would not have played out remotely the same without the isekai elements. Anis wouldnt make the magicology items. she wouldnt be obssessed with magic and with flying. She wouldnt have stepped down from inheriting the throne. She wouldnt have fallen out with her brother.
She wouldnt have major hangups and guilt towards her mom/parents about really being their daughter and not having magic - (which she would have if she wasnt isekai'd).

So.. yeah lol. All the actions and events are caused by the isekai and she is changing the world due to it too..
So while its not in your face all the time- it IS a fundemental critical part of the story. To say it was irrelevant makes me wonder if you paid any attention at all to it when you watched it.

Worst part of the anime was that it just goes bit too fast in some places, and so some meaningful scenes are either cut or just mentioned as dialogue. They really wanted to condense 3 volumes in 12 episodes. I think they did about as good of a job as was possible under those conditions.

^Oof I really hoped they'd just go with 2 volumes. I thought there was enough "going on" in them and it stops at a certain satisfying point. 3 is... A bit too much. I know the first 3 volumes were supposed to be a "story arc" but still...
And I think this is one of the few isekai stuff I tolerated. Even enjoyed it since it's actually integrated into the plot nicely and it's not so much in your face, trying to have some odd rpg-system or whatever.

My opinions are purely subjective, I didn't mean to demean or diminish anyone else's enjoyment of the show. I'm not typically a fan of straight high fantasy dramas and it shows. I went in expecting a more comedy focused isekai romp, and some of the marketing made it seem like it was when it really wasn't. If anything it would be a strength that it actually managed to keep my interest despite grievances.

My only real genuine gripe is how it seems to keep constantly bringing up some real big interesting dilemma about the world and its consequences, then immediately sweeps it under the rug and moves on. For example, the mana potions supposedly driving people insane. I get that that tackling that topic was not the point of the show, but it bothers me that it goes completely unaddressed aside from the "they're bad and you probably shouldn't be using them anymore." I also understand basing something on what it isn't instead of what it is is unfair, which again, is why its just a subjective opinion.

It also commits the cardinal anime sin of everyone standing around angsting for several minutes instead of fighting, followed immediately by unnecessary amounts of property damage and monologuing, but that was covered under the "anime bullshit" umbrella.

@elevown I didn't bring up any of that since it was technically a spoiler and one of the few things I found genuinely interesting, but also is really still a very personal character motivator. In the grand scheme of things, and with the world building as a whole, aside from the existence of a handful of magical items the fact that its an isekai isn't really apparent. I also never said that that was a bad thing. As PineconeJuice stated its actually pretty neat that its integrated into the world more naturally, instead of being shoehorned in like most isekai, or having the character constantly go "it really do/don't be like that back in my world, Urban Japan."

^ Huh... The more I read the more curious I am about the anime. I guess the book has a lot of talky moments, obviously, the medium allows for that, which fleshes out issues and whatnot. I also don't really remember mana potions. Reading all that made me both curious and a little bit more prepared for the show to... Be a different experience.

^ im not sure what swag means by mana potions either- there arnt any.. They might be refering to the boost pills Anis uses made from monster crystals that make her go a bit crazy - she has them in a little bottle.. But they are not some big issue- she is literaly the only person with access to them and that is the only occation so far that she uses them- and they dont even effect her THAT bad.

@herenowforever I do agree it seems a bit rushed especially in the last few eps. They coulda made it 13 or 14 long and it woulda been enough- but i dont think making just the first 2 vol for the anime woulda worked- it doesnt have a satifying conculsion at that point - and there wouldnt be enough in the first 3 vol to span 2 seasons- so I do think a 1 cour was enough to cover most everything and keep the pace up. But like I said 1 more ep at least woulda been better pacing for the ending. But the ending is still amazing and satisfying imo :)

especially as a yuri fan- i cant think of a better iesekai or even fantasy anime from a yuri standpoint - tho maybe im forgetting some shows lol.

The anime was a little quick in some areas, but I think it makes sense when you consider the stopping point they wanted to get to. Especially since I doubt it will get a second season. I thought it was a wonderful adaption personally, even with some of the changes that were made. I also felt like the talking instead of fighting was fine here, since a lot of the fighting was just meant to express frustrations between the characters, that could then be talked out as well. It was never really about winning the fight, or killing the other person, it was about the drama between them and fighting to express their feelings and then talking through the rest. So for me at least I had no issues with that aspect of the series, especially as a lot of the fights were between characters that were closely connected somehow, but that's my own subjective opinion I suppose.

I've seen so many people loving the anime adaption, both new comers and the LN community alike, so I'd say give it a chance. Also nice that we get another a lesbian kiss with it, since it's the first one in an anime since 2018, at least on the lips. Last one to the best of my knowledge was surprisingly Bloom Into You. Though I am aware of and excited for the various Yuri anime that are upcoming, I just hope this doesn't mean we won't see any for like 5-10 years after we've gone through the currently announced titles. I can also say this was one of my favorite Isekai anime out there, and definitely the best Yuri Isekai anime we've gotten so far. I might even enjoy it more than the upcoming adaption of "I'm Love With The Villainess", we'll see though haha

^Not to talk about some other LN but does the "I'm in love with the villainess" get better as the series goes? Because I'm currently going through the first volume and its ... Avarage so far.

^I've only read and bought some of Villainess manga and LN so far, and my opinion is also that it's somewhat average. I've heard however that it gets better later on, so I'm keeping an open mind going into the upcoming anime, especially since I figure it'll get further in than I have with the source material so far. That's why I'm saying maybe I'll like it more by the end of the anime and we'll see how it goes.

Personally I loved the Magical Revolution anime, and reading more into the source material with the manga and LN recently I've been enjoying those as well, especially as they go into more details and take a bit more time with various scenes. So I'm very happy with the series myself, and I'll see how it goes as I read more and eventually get past what the anime covers. I'd also love a second season even if it seems very unlikely, since I personally do think the series is legitimately good so far.
