Does the story ever go into detail about how Kikuri and Seika know each other? I know Kikuri calls Seika "Senpai," but I'm not sure how Seika is Kikuri's senpai.

This is actually canon. The special chapter (61), available on MDex, is a flashback that shows the story Nijika mentioned in ep.8 about their mother’s death and Seika leaving her band to take care of Nijika and then founding Starry
*Note: Hiroi Kikuri is drunk lady, tomboy rocker guitarist is Ijichi Seika

Personally I can't see PA-san as cis. Something about her just screams "trans" to me from her design to her dropping out of high school.
And Kikuri being trans is fun so why not?

^I didn't know that, that's cool. I looked it up and it appears the inspiration is "Margaret Hiroi" from 88Kasyo Junrei.
Although I couldn't find explicit confirmation regarding them being trans.

She gets her last name from Margaret Hiroi (the singer of 88kasyo Junrei) but I haven't found any source on her being trans so not sure if she actually is or if she just has masculine features

Yeah it appears Margaret's identity has somewhat of a mystery element, different websites seem to be vague about it. I saw some people saying trans another person saying maybe gender-fluid. I was hoping to maybe find a translated interview or something, but I unfortunately didn't have luck with finding anything like that. Well regardless Margaret seems like an interesting rocker.
Edit: I also know at least auto-translate is tricky with pronouns, so that sometimes adds difficulty to understanding a person's identity.

From following the band for years, I am pretty sure that Margaret is at most gender-fluid and maybe just a performing persona, though in that case it would be a very consistent one. But judging Margaret by their appearance and immediately concluding that they are trans seems a bit rash.
