Um, Actually in the original myth Perseus used the reflection of his shield to slay Medusa, so her refection wouldn't turn her to stone.

^ versions of the myth vary (like for basically any ancient myth), and in some Perseus actually uses the reflection of the shield to turn Medusa into stone before decapitating her.
