frankly id always wanted more classic gundam yuri to show up, so maybe this can open some doors for viewers. although maybe the intersection between yuri artists and artists who like drawing mecha are just not that much

We actually have a couple Lacus x Meer doujinshi. But, yeah, surprised Atra x Kudelia completely failed to take off
I love how people were already shipping these two months ago, way before the (very gay) first episode aired.
The way things were set up, it was just kinda obvious there was going to be something between these two. Though I don't think anyone was expecting an engagement

Yeah at some point pretty soon after Atra met Kudellia she decided that she actually liked Kudellia quite a lot rather than feeling threatened by her. And some time after meeting the Turbines she settled on the idea that she wanted Kudellia to be a part of her family too. Turns out she was pretty serious about the idea. I like the pairing to be honest. IBO wasn't perfect for me but I wouldn't mind seeing more of Kudellia and Atra.

Actually the engagement reminds me of the IBO side story manga there is a lady Galljerhorn Gundam pilot who is engaged to the daughter of a Galljerhorn higher up but that falls through because of “you should be able to seek your own happiness” reasons

yeah, i'm just saying since it's not a "pure" yuri coupling, as in only two women, that's probably why it didn't take off the way other pairings have.
