@Ghostrama13: so basically in Duolingo (the foreign language learning app) there are several characters you can collect as you progress, including these two. The lore is that Zari (the Muslim girl) and Lily are "bestfriends", and you know how the artists are, hence this pic.

So about the Owl House thing*TM. Duolingo has always been more "open" about queer people mostly out of practicality. It covers more bases and saves on programming random phrases to not be concerned about gendered taboos. As such, some of the "stories" it tells end up being queer oriented. Around the time these characters were introduced, the Owl House had been running for a while, with comparisons between the titular owls being received positively by both companies.
Then Amity and Luz started dating.
People obviously were hyped, but this connection brought attention to two of the new characters in Duolingo, Lily and Zari, who obviously share more than passing resemblance to Luz and Amity, even in personality. As such, Duolingo users started pairing the two. This lead to Duolingo listing the Owl House as one of Lily's interests, and advertisement featuring the pair together being more common.

Wow, I was just looking through the images and about to close this one, thinking it's just some random characters until I recognised them and then looked at the tag to confirm. Really don't think I would've ever expected Duolingo characters.

i did'nt expect it per se, but not gonna lie the idea of duolingo yuri crossed my mind when i heard that the sentences where selected at random so the characters sometimes says gay things.

^while it's very likely that they can be Muslims they can still be another religion (didn't read the manga since a long while) and even then Zari is actually practicing her religion with her hijabi so it's sadly not the same :)

Aren't they super old? They might be from before Islam was common in Persia.
