Recently Oda said he's planning to end the series in 3 years, though he's not sure if he'd actually do it.

@FilfthyFlow we're definitely closer to end than the beginning, but i think Oda is underestimating how much time it will takes him.

last I heard we're getting the final arc soon, and each arc takes about 4-5 years so yeah, OP might be ending soon.

Also I love his decision to not include romance in OP, as in doesn't root for any ships in particular.
