I don't think they knew each other beforehand Aquwin, just seems like she seeked her out afterwards. And I don't really think she made her like her type intentionally.

Going by the commentary, it seems like the magical girl knew and had a crush on her as a boy, which is probably why she agreed to the request in the first place. Not only that, but she's also surprised that she still has a crush on her now that she's a girl too, which is pretty wholesome.
This was also a commission, so I'm not sure if this will get continued at some point. I hope it does though; it's cute.

I agree- I think she didnt know magical girl was the black haired girl. And while she fancies him she still did as he asked - reluctantly - because he really wanted it and he's important to her.
Not sure to what degree he knows the blackhaired girl- maybe just a class mate?
And afterward, I think it looks like yes, she realises she STILL likes him after the change.
