^Probably depends on the slimegirl since there are different kinds (like various elemental ones for example). Some are probably even room temp.

^bold of you to assume artists and writers are able and willing to actually think of such details as the metabolic thermoregulation of their creations, as opposed to just going with the most obvious thoughtless stereotypes

Funnily I find in my experience a lot of artists and writers enjoy going into all the minor details of their characters. Some even go into basically an essay describing every which way their characters work, including additional information bits on a blog and/or their social media, it's often very fun to read.

^In my experience half the time they do that they don't actually understand the first thing about the relevant topic(s) and the result is worse than just handwaving it... "Artists Are Not Engineers" as it were, and most seem quite lost on even something so basic as how ectothermic ("cold-blooded") metabolism functions in practice. (You run into that an awful lot with reptilian-themed critters because obviously scales = ectotherm amirite guise?)

^Well at the end of the day slimegirls are fictional so I'm not going to be too worried about it, and the lore they do provide is at least fun to read. My suspension of disbelief is intact with it haha

^the creators certainly don't tend to worry too much about it, since insofar I've seen they never go into any real detail about those and clearly just go with the standard set of tropes without bothering to invest the slightest thought.
Meanwhile I'm inclined to wonder how the typical tendency to dribble all over the place doesn't make them run out of biomass within a day...

^lazy handwaves are lazy. Or more like usually it doesn't even amount to that because the creator just thoughtlessly regurgitates some commonplace trope.
And it's not like most put much effort into their magic systems either, anyway.

I think the realistic answer is that the temperature of slime mirrors that of the ambient surroundings, they probably can generate some body heat, but probably just during digestion and stuff.

^^^It's not about laziness I simply just don't feel like debating further with you. Some of the early conversation was fine but I'm not invested in it, right now I rather just enjoy the art and move on. Have a good one.
The smug condescension you're bringing to this discussion is completely unwarranted.

I've read a couple of authors who considered science-fictional slime girls; one had them be, effectively, macro-scale amoebas with fine control over their cellular wall, and another had them be a hive-mind of colony creatures, where the individual microscopic creatures weren't sapient and would be shed quite frequently — much like a real slime mold but with more cohesion. Neither would probably pass muster as real evolved creatures, but we are, after all, talking about fiction.
