I picked up the first LN volume for this recently, I really need to get around to actually reading it.

I'll definitely get around to it eventually. At the moment I'm addicted to the Killing Slimes for 300 Years LNs. I'm on volume 5 at the moment.

^I enjoyed the anime even tho it was pretty low budget- it was wholesome fun and i enjoyed the characters- how's the LN compare to the anime? And have they been translated?

The Otherside Picnic novels (they're not actually light novels, they're 'proper' novels from Japan's biggest sci-fi publisher) are much, much better than the anime (you can't even compare them, really), and they've received official translations, yes! The sixth volume gets its official English publication next month, which catches us up to Japan until volume 7 releases in December.

@elevown definitely not, haha — those are LNs, and I haven't read 'em. Both the Otherside Picnic and Killing Slimes anime were pretty low-budget (in fact, how often the UraPi anime resorted to shitty 3d walking to save money suggests Slimes might have even been higher-budget, or at least allocated it rather better...), so since this was an UraPi picture I decided to err on the side of caution about your question (if not nearly enough, given as you pointed out I didn't specify the name either!). Apologies if it was aimed at Slimes! The trouble we could save if we all used names all the time (in point of fact, I'll go ahead and edit my last post to avoid any confusion for posterity!).

I actually watched the Killing Slimes anime as I read the LNs for it and, with two exceptions, I think the LN is much more enjoyable. The bit with the Minstrel is better in the anime just because of the music. Then The Witch's Cafe ends up more enjoyable in the anime because they waited until the end to do that part so more characters end up involved in it which was just nice. In the LN not all of the main cast had been introduced yet at that point.
Outside of those two, yeah I highly prefer the LNs. You get a lot more detail in various moments, and a lot of moments happen a little differently. Also a few chapters got skipped outright by the anime. One of my favorite moments with Laika happens differently in the anime and it actually kinda bummed me out a bit cause in the LN it's a funny but sweet moment while in the anime it's enirely played for laughs.
Far as translation goes, the official English is up to 9 or 10, and there's a Beelzebub spinoff that has 1 volume.

^ Urasekai LN is really enjoyable. I kinda think this artwork is after sorawo seeing herself in the eye of toriko and realizing what's the love sorawo means and how much she love her
