Judging from Coco's unfazed expression, I think her tail just blocked Kiara's backstab.
As a dragon, it's only natural she has high enough fire resistance to shrug off anything Kiara has to throw at her.

There's actually something pretty cool and metaphorical about a phoenix and a dragon fighting over Death. Side note, dragons and phoenixes paired together represent marriage in Chinese culture. So, I guess Kiara and Coco are fighting over Calli's hand here?

@Ruiko PRETTY sure the idea here is that the sword haven't hit her yet in the last panel, you know the whole "picture taken moment before disaster" thing. Also, dragons fire resistance come from their scales, Coco's tail in this form is a plastic butt plug..
