@Reirin The anime never had a single bit of even yuri subtext, In fact i'd say it went out of its way a few times to decry the idea.
They were close, and lived together sure- but it always kept it clearly 'friends' only. The 50 odd chapters of the manga on DS also have zero tags indicating any yuri or subtext at all.
They woulda worked great as a couple too :( had almost a married feel, even without any yuri.

The episode when her sister visited was about the only true subtext. The sister picked up on it and said that she would be fine if these two stayed together forever right before announcing her own marriage. Setting a parallel between the two situations seemed intentional, but that's pretty much all we got outside of the foreman mistaking them to be a couple before being corrected.

^^The foreman thing actualy pissed me off a bit and seemed ANTI yuri. When he thought she was 'his' girlfriend she pulled a wierd face and said 'Im a girl you know?' then he appologised for not realising. This implies for both of them that her being a man was the only option for thinking they could be a couple- she never considered for a second he might of thought they were dating as 2 girls. And the show didnt just have him mistake them for girlfriends but had to have her mistaken for a guy.
I forgot the sister visit- that was a slight hint of subtext as you say- she did indeed think they'd make a good couple.
